You don't have to anymore.

XBConnect is "Next Generation" Software for Windows that allows you to play Microsoft XBox System link games over the internet.

Read about it here.

Download it here.

I love it, if you're an XBoxer, hope you'll dig it too.

All the best,

dokk

I just got my xbox so i'm still ignorant....how am I supposed to install this software on my xbox if I download the software from my computer? or is there a way to do it directly with my xbox

xbl is worth the money

candyflip 09-30-2003 10:38 AM

I only paid $50 for my XBL setup and it came with some games and the headset. Hardly a waste of money...unless you consider the fact that my girl has hijacked it and I haven't played it in weeks.

You download it onto your computer and then load the program onto your computer.

For Xbox live, you plug your xbox right into your router, hub, or modem.

For Xbox Connect, you plug your Xbox into your computer, and then your computer gets plugged into your router, hub, or modem.
The computer acts like the connection between the xbox and the internet that the xbox live stuff normally does. No biggee. It's just like the old "connection sharing" crap people used to use when they had one dial-up connection and two computers.

PS Xbox Live is only $49.99 where I live and last I read, M$ had decided to keep it at that yearly price. I've never heard of a $100 subscription fee.

Hmmm... that doesn't quite make sense. Only because network cards only have one port. So there's no in/out like a standard modem, and therefore you wouldn't be able to plug your Xbox into your PC, and then your PC back to your router.

Unless you possibly use USB to go from the Xbox to the PC, and then cat5 to go from the PC to the hub/router.

getting xbox connect, connected
connect your xbox to your hub. cable modem/pc plugs into your hub.
