Road Trips!

Okay. I work online, this is where I work (im unemployed in the "real world") My lease is up at the end of October. I am really entertaining the idea of putting my stuff back into storage, and hitting the road :-)

A nice drive over to florida to visit Angel, going up to Virginia beach on vacation, heading up the east coast to visit BBW's and parties, back to texas for thanksgiving and christmas, living with relatives :-) Over to LA for New Years Eve party with Logan and DJ, vegas for internext, then back here to find a new job and new place to live.

Someone, please, tell me all the bad things about road trips :-) Im sure I have the American achetype of the "great american road trip" in my head, I want to hear the nitty gritty dirty details of why my idea sucks :-)

Shoot :-)

All the "bad things" that happen on road trips are what make great stories later!
It's fun as hell to go to dive bars in small little towns and to camp when you can... and these days with cell phones it's much less dangerous when you find yourself in the middle of nowhere.

Dugmor 09-28-2003 06:16 PM

I spent 2 years traveling around the US, It is much harder that traveling around Europe which I spent 5 years back packing.

If I where you I would hit South East Asia or South America. Much cheaper and a lot of wierd and interesting things to see.

Yall so arent helping :-) you are supposed to be talking me out of this!

Anyone have a good cost analisis? Or dangers of a single girl driving in a 4 year old car? :-)

Monique Niccole 09-28-2003 06:26 PM

I hate driving. Anything over 2 hours and I better have some damn entertaining company.

Katlicious72 09-28-2003 06:30 PM

I enjoy travelling alone and have driven cross country when I was a young child off and on for 5 years. Then when I was in the military I did it quite a bit. I tell you what, those little fuckn truckstops are the best thing ever invented. I met the nicest ppl there. Some of those places on the way cross country still have a Bobs Big Boy and I love stopping at that goddamn place just to see the waitresses who still put pencils in their hair. It rocks! You just see so much shit you wouldn't normally see. Think of it as a Thelma without the Louise trip and have fun girlfriend. And remember I'm in San Diego your welcome here anytime. Hugs

Edit of course I meant my mommy and daddy drove cross country when I was a child LOL

MattO 09-28-2003 06:31 PM

Make sure you got AAA plus or something similar with good road-side service. AAA is usually a good deal and once you got your card you can get tons of free maps and stuff like that.
Gas is ridiculous now, so that would be a major expense. Things like food and stuff aren't too expensive on the cheezy roadside truck stop greasy spoon places... and when you visit friends along the way, feel free to mooch.

HEARTBREAKER 09-28-2003 06:42 PM

my advice is: be careful and take it easy man!!!

have fun!:thumbsup

angeleyes 09-28-2003 06:43 PM

Come on........some guys must have work for her???

I've invited Stacy Cat, Kat and a few others for a vacation. I know I'm in need of one.......and all she needs is airfare, and I've met her, she is fun to hang with and would love to have her on the vacation. :thumbsup

StacyCat 09-28-2003 06:46 PM

Yep, Angel brings up my second point.

I need money. Cash :-) So, I would love to set up content shoots all over, or sell stuff that my photographer does (if you want promo stuff)

Im selling my softcore sets, about 350 pictures, for members area filler if anyone wants it :-) 80 bucks :-)

Sly_RJ 09-28-2003 07:08 PM

Question... while on tour, how will you update your sites? Are you going to let it all die off?

StacyCat 09-28-2003 07:25 PM

Sly, I have a laptop, and I also have about 4 months worth of updates sitting on my hard drive :-) So, I can update on the road, or I can upload all of the updates, ready to go, and then just change the index when i want to update :-)

Most of my traffic is from toplists, so they dont require daily maintenance. My other traffic sources I can check in on every once in a while just to make sure they are doing okay :-)

Getting my checks would probably be the biggest problem.

Sly_RJ 09-28-2003 07:31 PM

I'd say you're pretty well set then if you have that much content available. But, you should make this trip a joy/business trip and write a good chunk of it off your taxes. Try to schedule some shoots with photographers, other models, other companies, etc all along the way. I'm sure you'll be able to find several worth doing.

Is your main traffic really just top lists? You don't do free sites, galleries, or AVS at all? You might want to look into doing free sites, especially with the selection of content you have available. Will add another zero or two to your monthly checks.

StacyCat 09-28-2003 07:36 PM

Great ideas!

Ive actually just gotten comfortable with putting more of my content out (mostly because my softcore stuff is all older) so ive been doing a few freesites (or attempting to) Im also adding hosted galleries to my affiliate program, so hopefully that will bring in a little extra.

AVS, I havent had that much luck with.

And, I would definatly be shooting as I go :-) Most of the BBW's I wanna shoot with are on the east or west coast, so i'll get a lot of content done. And, im looking for content shoots if I go, for extra cash on the road.

Chris 09-28-2003 07:46 PM

how do you plan on running an affilate program while on the road?

Well, I will have internet access, though mostly dial up :-) And, my program is administered through coxCash, so any admin needs can be taken care of through them :-)

Good question, though :-)

teenjump 09-28-2003 08:12 PM

You're in no danger Stacy.

Do it.

TurboAngel 09-28-2003 08:42 PM

Sounds like fun, if you come to NJ give me a call!

StacyCat 09-28-2003 11:13 PM

Thanks yall!

Now, I wanna hear the bad experiences! I want to hear about the guy that got lost in the middle of nowhere. Or cars breaking down, or missing exits, getting arrested, the bad stuff! :-)

No worries. You would not have gotten within 3 miles of me anyway.

I managed to avoid you in Florida.

jscott 09-29-2003 10:58 AM

i take road trips all the time. bad things are:

1. when you have to piss
2. getting tired behind the wheel
3. cost is sometimes a bit high (food, gas, snacks, hotel, etc)
4. speeding tickets

for some people its worth it and for others its not, in my opinion it's ALWAYS worth it. i love road trips
:thumbsup

theharvman 09-29-2003 10:58 AM

There is nothing wrong with road trips as long as you look at every experience as an adventure you should be fine. Make sure your route is well planned out. Stop and stock up on water, food, a road side emergency kit, cell phone, map, and tunes (If you plan on sleeping in your car at all I would also bring some protection and I do not mean condoms.) Hit the road sister you should have a blast. Keep all of us posted on your travels and have a safe trip!:thumbsup

Zoe_Zoebaboe 09-29-2003 11:45 AM

Hey Sweetie, I remember you from the Sushi Gathering I had in Vegas.

You should stop by, I have an open place and it would be cool to see ya again :D

Party!

BVF 09-29-2003 01:09 PM

It costs more money to travel then it does to stay at home and build up some dough...

If you're unemployed and don't have enough dough to maintain a household, you won't have enough dough to maintain yourself on a road trip...there are too many variables that could fuck you up...

what if you get sick? got insurance?
where will all of your checks get mailed to? have any sponsors?
eating on the road costs a grip...and I eat 3-4 times a day? got money for that?
living under someone elses roof means you follow their rules...ready for that?
what happens when someone you visit backs out of their shooting/content/etc. deal and you're stuck in their city?
And then you have to pay for the moving and storage of your own shit before you leave, plus a monthly fee to keep it in storage.
What about gasoline? what if your car gets fucked up while you're traveling?

I GUARANTEE you that your money won't last as long as you think it will last...this will even happen if you travel to a foreign country...

fucka road trip...what you need is a VACATION....Then when your vacation is finished, come back home and get a job...

Thanks BVF! This is exactly what I am looking for :-)

So far, the consensus is that I would need more money that I expected. So, i think i'll stay here another 6 months, then see at that point.

Zoe! You still in vegas? Woohoo, I have a place to crash if I need it :-)
