is sex.com advertising worth it?

I am looking into some advertising options and would like to know if you think that sex.com advertising is actually worth it.

Oracle Porn 09-27-2003 02:21 PM

no

gooddomains 09-27-2003 02:23 PM

have you had advertising running with them ?

SR 09-27-2003 02:23 PM

For me it's one of the only places where I'm unable to make a profit or to make it worth it.
Some guys do great with them tho.

Sex.com is a great place for targeted adult traffic

If you haven't tried advertising with them you should- the worst that can happen is that your site still gets seen by MANY surfers....

yep, would suggest letting them assist you in proper bidding for your keywords though. My understanding is that the biggest error is paying too much to be the top listed site. It is PPC, no need to be number 1 on the list. The surfer is probably going to look at a few sites anyway

Shoplifter 09-27-2003 03:02 PM

I have been running there and on some other large and well known places for a while now.

I think that the new realities (CC scrubs) make the pricing models that these programs set earlier a little less, if at all profitable now

I'm probably going to can my sex.com listings unless they can show me what they can do for me. The only thing I wil probably keep are my adword programs.

4Pics 09-27-2003 03:14 PM

save your money and move along.

sheldonjuan 09-27-2003 03:28 PM

well I ran a little test with them ($200 smackers!), at the begining when I set my words to .03 I wasnt getting any clicks, but after talking to lovely michelle (my rep she recommended I boost my ppc bid) didnt work out.

All in all I ended up making one trial @ $3.95!

Its funny because 3mins after depositing my $200 I got a very nice welcoming email, never got an answer or reply since!

eatapeach 09-27-2003 03:52 PM

if you have the word 'free' anywhere in your ad you will probably get smacked with a ton of traffic that wont convert.

i made my money back on my last campaign plus a small profit, but for the amount of time i spent setting it up i don't feel like it was worth the effort.

the customer service for me is very good. my account rep at sex.com hits me up on icq once or twice a week to see how things are going. in fact, it was my rep that gave me the idea that finally helped me earn my money back.

good luck.

I heard advertising with adultsearchbar.com rox :thumbsup

Zorgman 09-27-2003 04:42 PM

Sex.com traffic works if you do it right. I have shown a few webmasters in the last week how to increase their income and they now make profit. Most spent $100-$200 to see how they go. It was gone within 3-4 days and nothing to show for it.

Check my article for details: HERE :thumbsup

gooddomains 09-27-2003 07:14 PM

anyone around that did use sex.com for his own paysites ?

Adult Site Traffic 09-27-2003 10:03 PM

The terms "sex" and ".com" have typically done very well in my Pay Per Click search engine.

LOL.

Actually, my PPC listings are placed in front of the surfers, not in a database. :)

Yes.... it's probably spam. I just wanted to jump in first.

Those who know, understand .. :glugglug

it's good, but don't beat first positions and top keyphrases. So you can be in rotation there for the whole year =)

make it cheap and will get some additional traffic. :thumbsup

xzoom 09-28-2003 03:52 AM

You maybe wan't to try PPC traffic from www.adult-bookmarks.com ; here you'll find more information: http://www.adult-bookmarks.com/ppc/

iwantchixx 09-28-2003 04:02 AM

Sex.com can eat a dick. Everyone associated with them seem to love spamming me on icq and through all my email accounts.

Poo-Chee 09-28-2003 04:04 AM

KaLi 09-28-2003 04:11 AM

it's good, but expect to wait about 2 weeks to get a change made to any campaign, seem to be slow in customer service

gkremen 09-29-2003 01:07 AM

Several things:
1. it's good, but expect to wait about 2 weeks to get a change made to any campaign, seem to be slow in customer service
* Hit me up on ICQ personally or call me 858 759 4220 - if it takes too someone will be first

2.Sex.com can eat a dick. Everyone associated with them seem to love spamming me on icq and through all my email accounts.
** Due to a new employee - no long with the company. Sorry. If it happens again. Call contact me. However, our stuff works. Don't hang up or ignore email or ICQ if it is going to make you money.

3. what if your Alexa rating is higher than Sex.com's rating? haha
Only 15% of our traffic comes from http://www.sex.com. Most comes from other search engines such as http://www.google.de and http://www.lycos.co.uk

Victor-E 09-29-2003 03:27 AM

I paid $500 for a banner ad and $100 for word listing (not including another $100 worth of credit listing they gave me). I let them arrange everything, from banner placement to choice of words to the bids. After my money was completely spent I got one (1) sign up.

bigdog 09-29-2003 04:25 AM

paying $600 per signup that is pretty good

penguina 09-29-2003 09:18 AM

I would be more than happy to manage anyone's account....
I think communication is key...
put money into a portfolio...i bet you would be checking in with your broker eh? well put money into a ppc account...check in with me... :)

Ok, it's another manic Monday....

just hit me up if you have any interests or questions about traffic with SEX.com...
