Designers (?)

Just wondering really...

What do you do with designs that one of your clients decide they either dont like or, dont wanna pay for?

I know of a few companies that just chage the site names on them and sell them on but do you have a 'plan' of what you usually do when this happens?

What first time every time?

Every designer i have worked with always end up having to make a few changes to their original concept.

recycle it, or cannibalize pieces of it for other projects.

Same here, always redesign and change until the customer is fully satisfied.. Different thing is when someone orders something and never gets back to me with a response (I almost always regret for broking my own payment upfront % policy :( )

always listen to what the client have to say, and if your design is way off, redesign or make a new one. and give him a little extra for the trouble :) we never sell a site if the clients dont want it, but we might use it in our portfolio, if it is okay with the client ofcource!

Amen... but what happens if your client dies???

I had this problem with someone before a few years ago. He didn't pay my $3k :( :1orglaugh :(

lukapensa 09-27-2003 02:38 PM

well, we always work out something... give a discount to somebody else who will buy that work, or something? :)

graphicsbytia 09-27-2003 02:48 PM

At Graphics by tia we've only had a couple of people that lost interest in their projects in the 6+ years we've been doing this, but since we get 100% up front, the designs belong to the client so are never re-sold. And one other thing we do is qualify clients before we take them on. This cuts down the dissatisfaction factor quite a bit. We've turned down many people who want ego sites or are the type that we just know don't have what it takes to work hard enough to succeed. Running a paysite takes a lot of work and dedication and if we see that they probably won't be willing to do that, we just turn them away or send them elsewhere.

We have a saying in our office here... it's not easy being a client of Graphics by tia..... lol
