Why does everyone here use ICQ? AIM is so much better.
 

What the title says. I was just curious. Seems like the majority of business on here is done through ICQ. Is there an advantage to it over AIM? AIM seems like a much better messenger service.

I like aim a lot better myself. I use it so long as the other party also uses it.

Also, in aim ALL my msgs make it to the other party, and I don't have random chinese people messaging me for a chat buddy.

I primarily use ICQ, but I also run AIM, MSN & Y!

I like ICQ most, no particular reason :)

Well for one if you accuatly work in the industry and do some work you will need icq to speak to people because not every has aim.

Only reason I have the garbage.

Yep, I use ICQ because it is the business standard in this industry.

I use AIm, yahoo, and MSN messenger. Mostly business contacts in ICQ (and I love the history feature)

You can ICQ people with AIM, and you can AIM people with ICQ too. I like AIM better myself.

Trillian works for me.

I like ICQ because you can leave people messages, and everybody has it. I use AIM too for personal things, I'd rather not do business on AIM.

Because when I do business I like to have a history of what was said. Besides...just about everyone in the industry is on ICQ. I use Trillian myself.

I got ICQ and AIM. Doesn't bother me what I use but I don't really fancy having 10 chat windows opened when talking to people who message me every day

Where as with ICQ I can message and then the window disappears and I don't need to bother coz I got history :)

I use Trillian Pro 2.0 so I have AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and ICQ... all looks the same to me.

and my fuggin YIM keeps crashing it...will prolly take 5 min to find the fix and press on....


seems like everyone likes one IM or another for some sily reason...I could give a fuck, I just don't want 20 aps open to talk to fuckers...

with an aim like "how" how can you not expect it to be jacked?

Puh-lease, it's not even close. ICQ so so many more features that AIM doesn't have including message history and invisible mode, plus it supports multiple simultaneous file sends which AOL IM cannot do. Not to mention most adult webmaster use ICQ and that alone would be reason enough to use it even if the situation was reversed.

The most popular and most people use it..why use something a minority of people use?

Yep, my Trillian is barfing on Y! today too. Guess they didn't get the fix for the new protocol 100% right ;)
