Are you seeing the decline of the porn website?

There are way too many websites out there that deliver porn. The industry is starting to resemble the dry cleaning business. Sure, you can make a living at it, but forget about any dreams of becoming rich.

The time is coming for a SHAKEOUT.

For a user to get the abundant content of P2P, and the search services of a search engine, you need something more than a website, you need a "Supersite".

A "Supersite" is a website that contains no web pages, only web applications and content. "Supersites" not only exist for porn, but for whatever content you get off the web. A user looking for porn on a "Supersite" could find images and movies, create galleries, make slideshows, build movie libraries, sort, organize, save, edit and modify content, choose different displays, apply transitions, filters, and special effects, and control the content as they please.

A "Supersite" eliminates:

Pop-ups, pop-unders, java-script hacks, hidden installs, window attacks;

Viruses, worms, zombies, flash, adware, spyware, a forced browser crash;

Page time bombs, hidden apps, hidden downloads, hyperlink traps;

Backdoors, trojans, hidden installs, dialers, exploits, forced browser stalls;

Script dialogs, page interrupts, malicious scripts, scripting disrupts;

Bookmarking hacks, home page resets, secret image codes, history cracks;

Auto-downloading, auto-updating, hidden monitors, search page invading;

404 abuse, forced resizing, buffer exploits, cookie rewriting;

back button breaking, page path faking, request spying, desktop taking;

web page spoofing, Url cloaking, address hiding, hyperlink choking;

advertising binding, advertising signing, advertising blocking, advertising blinding;

phony dialogs, diagnostic fakes, plug-in abuses, web control breaks;

All it takes to create a "Supersite" is for some existing website owners to get together and pool their content and get rid of all their web pages (You are going to need a critical mass of content). Make all the content available through web applications and voila, you have a "supersite".

So without a website how exactly will this "Supersite" be distributed and sold?

A "supersite" and "website" are accessed the same way, using an http:// URL. A browser either reads "websites" or "supersites".

In other words, you can build, host, and browse a "supersite" right now, if you know how to do server-side web programming and markup the content properly.

The "supersite" is sold the same way you sell a "website", with lots of advertising. In fact, selling it should be easier than a "website" because you are offering something none of the competition can offer.

Think of a "supersite" as being a reference, repository, or warehouse of content. Think of a "website" as a place that sells packaged content.

Custom web browsers are NOT the answer.

Neriah Davis 09-24-2003 05:00 PM

how would they split up the pie? It doesn't seem like that would end up financially positive for many, just a few IMHO

Worldnet 09-24-2003 05:51 PM

The next thinning of the herd will start when the new Visa regs start. Yes people are tired of porn. When the net first got big, everyone had to get a PC to see all the porn. But after awhile it gets old. Shit, why look at photos when you can go to a strip club, live sex club, or a club where you can take part? You can get laid in clubs here now where I live. Why look at porn?

this is a joke right? a) clubs are a LOT more expensive. b) most whackers are married/have girlfriends. whacking at home is safe and trouble-free and probably even condoned by the significant other c) most people want a quick outlet, not a night getting drunk and spending a wad of $1 bills.

Transitions? Filters? Special effects? :eek7

Keep It Simple Stupid :thumbsup

Surfers only care about content. You only need to give them quality content and present it in an easy to navigate fashion. Nothing more.

But it's a good thing that you're trying to come up with an original idea, thats a must these days. You have to be original and do things that havent been done before. Only I think if anybody attempted to undertake this particular project it'd be a major flop. So you should get back to the drawing board. :2 cents:

woodsix 09-25-2003 11:32 AM

Below is a simple chart that compares:

"Website" vs. "Supersite"

content layout vs. content control
deep navigation vs. broad navigation
web pages vs. web applications
all-in-one browsers vs. one-in-all browsers
content packaging vs. content warehousing
weak typing vs. strong typing
variable navigation vs. fixed navigation

If you have ever used P2P, you know that there are different types of browsers that can be used to retrieve content on the same network. These networks are basically warehousing content. P2P uses a different protocol than the web, but provides superior access to content.

A "supersite" has the content warehousing of P2P, while using the standard web protocol of HTTP.

there's no money in porn so leave!

Go home. I'm already working on something to crush super sites.

THE SUPER MEGA SITE.

10 times bigger than any super-site. 1/10th price.

And you get a free box of chocolate chip cookies.

DIE SUPERSITES, DIE! THE FUTURE IS HERE AND YOU CANNOT HANDLE IT!

Wait a second. Aren't you the jackoff who was here a couple of months ago saying you cannot survive without custom browser software for your site? But you have a butt ugly site that my basic little IE 6.0 could load?

Carlito 09-25-2003 03:15 PM

I have a supersite.

woodsix 09-25-2003 03:57 PM

Well, it is not my intention to advertise that URL, but you cannot use it as a "supersite" unless you have a "supersite" web browser.

You are not going to see anything but the plain vanilla website using traditional web browsers.

I use that "supersite" every day - all the time, except when visiting message boards (which do not have much content, per se), or playing games online.

Regarding all the special options for controlling content, if you have ever created a slideshow, and you choose the best models, you include the best effects, and you decide the best soundtrack, you would not want to do without it. It is an experience you will not forget.
