You need a salesman to help pick out a computer? :1orglaugh

chuk 09-24-2003 02:00 PM

Don't buy HP. Problem solved.

A Commador Vic 20 is more computer than you'll ever need.

Upgrade upgrade upgrade!!!

guess you learned your lesson not to buy a HP, or let a salesman who is paid spiffs and commision tell you what pc to buy.

Kinda like going to the car dealer and letting them sell you a used car when you wanted a brand new one.

Sly_RJ 09-24-2003 02:05 PM

HP can't upgrade, why would you even think about buying it?

Second, as a webmaster, why are you buying a non-custom built box? We tear apart computers built for the common user.

When I was a kid in the computer store my dad was looking at computers. The guy working at the store was bragging about his 2 GB hard drive and said he would never be able to use that much.

I remember thinking the 1 gig hard drive I had just paid $700 for at a trade show was the greatest thing since hot pussy. So much that I went back and bought a second one.

Did he tell you the difference between the p4 and the celaron processor, then lean over and say they are about the same?

i didnt know HP doesnt upgrade, i just wanted the top of the line back then ... and got it. it was a extreme jump from my 466mhz e-machines lol

and why is a factory box not good for you? in my 2yrs of doing this shit, this was the only time i have ever had a problem. the pc usually stays running for weeks streight, then i reboot and its right back up.

id like to get a dual processor job, but i heard that you then need software that makes use of it?

What do you guys do that you need serious hardware? I remember shelling out "big" dollars to keep ahead of Autocad but for websites I never push my machine.
