MSN is closing their chatrooms in 28 countries...
LONDON, England (CNN) -- Microsoft says it will drop chat room services in 28 countries next month, in a move it says will ward off pedophiles and junk e-mailers.
"They're trying to move people to their paid subscription sites," said Ian Brown, director of the Foundation for Information Policy Research, a technology think tank. "They are shutting down services for which people are not paying and getting a good bit of P.R. out of it." link to article: http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/interne...hat/index.html |
I guess they are trying to get people to subscribe to their paid service now that the claims forms for Miscrosoft Antitrust suit for $ 1.1billion has been mailed out to us.

It was a money issue. It was costing them a lot of dough to monitor the chat rooms.

Was here (Belgium) on the news also. Outhere they stated they are closing it because it gets used by adults posing as kids to get dates with underaged girls.
