You on the national Do-Not-Call list?
It may not go into effect on Oct. 1st as planned... all the major telemarketing firms brought on lawsuits that caused a judge to rule that the FTC didn't really have the authority to create and enforce this list, currently 50 million deep.

G, well lets see umm if it goes to discovery then wouldnt the list become public?
|
"national" and "list" do not belong in the same sentence.
|
Telemarketer: big speal
you: but Telemarketer: big speal you: but Telemarketer: big speal is the owner of the house available? you:a bit busy right now are yo calling from home or work? Telemarketer:work you: whats your number there Telemarketer: 55555555 you: whats your name? Telemarketer: John Smith you : Listen John the owner of the house wont be home till 10pm can he reach you on this number at that time? Telemarketer: no you: oh why not Telemarketer: I will be at home then? you: well whats your number there Telemarketer: i dont take calls at home. you: nor do i so dont call me i know everyone has a phone book john Smith but dont call again and take me off your lists . |
In its decision, the court said existing laws give the FTC authority to curb abusive telemarketing practices, but that any national do-not-call list must be handled by the Federal Communications Commission.
So they just turn it over to the FCC and the judge is happy? |
