anyone use TMPGEnc?
 

Hey-

I ripped some DVDs from Red Light District that we licensed to VCD (mpeg) format, but I need to compress it before I chop it up and put it out for our members. I have heard that I can use TMPGEnc for this, by manipulating the bitrate or frame rate or something. Has anyone done this before? When I go in there to mess around with the mpg and I load it, the audio loads itself fine...but when I go into the menu where it looks like I will be able to manipulate all the settings (frame rate, screen size, etc) none of the menus are lit up so that i can change them...they are all dimmed and I cant do anything at all. Can anyone help me out? Can I do this, or can I only encode them in DivX and have my members download the codec to get them smaller. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm not sure what the problem is, make sure you installed all codecs. But I wouldn't recommend touching the frame rate, you don't want your movie to skip a frame every 10 or so frames. It's very annoying and noticable, trust me ;)
