Virtual Private Servers?
I'm trying to help someone dump their dedicated server and get into a cheaper virtual hosting account. They are only using a fraction of their bandwidth, about 40-50GB/Mo.
I was going to recommend oxeo (50GB/$55). A board search seems to turn up good things about them. But then I ran into the virtual private server at servint (100GB/$49). I have no experience with these and there isn't much on the boards about it. Is this a safe recommendation? I'm thinking that a virtual server would be easier to transfer their current setup to than a virtual hosting account. although, since they are mostly just harvesting google hits on old stuff and not actively working on it, a virtual host might be more secure from them after their hacking experience. Does anyone have any experience with these things? I didn't see a virtual private server option on oxeo's site. can someone suggest other hosts that have something comparable or better? (virtual servers only please - not apache based virtual hosting) |
we (www.youza.com) do not offer VPS' - it can get real messy, as the ressources sharing is not an easy thing to manage...
However Ive heard a LOT of good about servint - so i wouldnt worry about going with them at all. :) |
VPSes are neat, but they can be tricky.
Check out www.jvds.com They're a good deal and run by a good guy. For $75 a month you can get your own server with 300GB through ServForce |
