I have lots of hitbot proxies filed in my server logs... mainly because I get about 30k traffic per day from hitbots because lots of my users redirect their filtered traffic to me.

The best is to use an inteligent hitbot detection and not to use a static database and compare IPs against it, that's just crazy and would end by filling the database with IPs.
