If you've pulled in that much green I'm sure things will pick up for you in a few months.

I make enough to live comfortably and save a nice bit, with a very small amount of work. I think anyone who puts in a decent amount of work should be able to make a very good living in this bizz :2 cents:

My TGPs pay for my mortgage, my paysites pay for living and taxes. I am not making bank by any means, but overall I'm making a decent wage.

slapass 09-20-2003 04:52 PM

Shermsshack pointed out to me in a thread that it doesn't take money as much as invested time.

besterman 09-20-2003 04:54 PM

FOCUS - nothing beats it. Everytime you see another opportunity and want to do that and then something else can really slow you down

LadyMischief 09-20-2003 04:58 PM

Lol... I guess your joking but I still remember when I got
my first check - it was pretty cool.

Mind you I had bigger expectation but what the fuck - it's free cash after all.

Chris 09-20-2003 05:20 PM

I only make around 400-500 a month.

maxjohan 09-20-2003 05:44 PM

This is my first month..I can't say right now, but it doesn't look that green.

:helpme

NedFLanders 09-20-2003 05:45 PM

I'm not making much... I can't even live on it. It isn't even worth the time I put in.

Flow 09-20-2003 05:55 PM

I don't do shit other than read message boards and check my stats and from the work I did about a year ago (for about 7 months straight, for about 2 hours a day) I am pulling in about $500 a month.

If I went back to spending about 2 hours a day, 7 days a week making new AVS sites that promote sponsors, I would probably go back to making about $2000 a month, but....

a) I don't need the money that badly - my real job makes me about $80-90k a year

b) I got burnt out from making porn sites

and, most importantly...

c) I am happy with making $500 a month from doing jack-shit.

Flow

BlackCrayon 09-20-2003 06:58 PM

i make enough to pay my business and living expenses but not much left over after that. used to make a lot more just one year ago but i've been slacking off, but no more, working on new sites and getting back into gear and hopefully will double and triple income or more soon.

The majority of the people making the huge sums are doing a lot of things that they don't tell you about. I've even seen some seeding this board with bogus and outdated techniques that don't work anymore. I'm sure to throw the newbies off track so they won't end up being competition.

To make the huge money you have to do many things and do them in a unique way.

You have to be an expert in marketing and understand Internet consumer psychology.

You have to understand online "closing" techniques.

You have to know how to buy the content that will sell and then retain subscribers.

You have to be a research hound and know everything happening in the industry and the market and how to effectively dance around and over all the non-stop obstacles and changes.

You have to know how to extract information from other webmasters without them realizing you're doing so.

You have to know how to discipline yourself since its easy to putz off as soon as you start making money. You have to be an efficient manager of your daily to do tasks and schedule your time productively.

You have to have good people skills and know how to network and makes friends with people that will help you on stuff you don't know how to do or don't have the skills to do.

You have to have courage and be a risk taker. Hesitation will kill you. You have to trust your gut instincts.

You have to know when to hold them and know when to fold them.

You have to be creative enough to figure out how to get an edge above your competitors in your niche and maintain that edge constantly. You drop the ball and they'll run right past you.

You have to see the trends and know how to exploit them.

There is lots more, but these are some of the most important things.

cluck 09-21-2003 12:28 AM

I started off as a spammer so I guess I was lucky enough to already have a good income while experimenting with the "legit" adult scene. Seriously for months I put cash into hosting, content, traffic, etc before I started seeing cash. I see it kinda like college but you don't pay to be spoon fed, you have to use trial and error yourself. Half the stuff you read about getting rich is bullshit, the other half lies(especially on boards). Eventually I figured out how to go about things "working smart not hard". Even with almost no investment anyone can turn an hours worth of work into a signup, it just takes time to learn how.

Or you can simply hire someone to do all of these things for you...which is what I did when I started with my business. I almost went under before I hired the right manger...he was my third one...and I couldn't have gotten a better person. He was new to the porn business but had been in the dot com business every since he left college and he along with some of his friends that we hired that had also been laid off...quickly made the transition. I basically just handled the finances.

I would agree with the friends part - Soul you've probably been burned more than a few times but wouldn't you concede that it's good to have at least one person in the biz that you can trust, run ideas past, have them look at stuff you're doing and tear it apart for you, etc?

I've got one friend like that and he's priceless :)
He gets on my ass and reminds me to work when I'm slacking off, too :thumbsup

har har 09-21-2003 12:45 AM

Theo 09-21-2003 01:08 AM

Friends are good to have and can be helpful for sure, but they are not a requirement, at least for many, to make money and succeed in any industry.

Your own effort and ideas will make something successful or failure. There are more than a dozen people that do not have business friends, some of them do not have friends at all.
