Pay per signup or revshare?

Hi,

What works better for you: Paid per signup (trial included) or 50/60/70/80% revshare (TopBucks offers the 80%, can't seem to find the catch if there is any).

My guess if that you decide on the way you are going to promote it. Without much pre-selling (like TGP's or other "mass" traffic sites) you would go for the per-signup, since that gives you fast cash, and TGP visitors know how to find free porn, so they might take a trial but won't pay for porn for long (again, these are all guesses :D)
If you do pre-sell a site alot (like for excample sending a special newsletter, making special pages to to let people know how great it is all inside), you choose for revshare. Also, if you don't mention there is a trial option, the people you send to the sign-up page will be more likely going for the full payment because else they wouldn't have clicked the ad (ofcourse you always get freebies to check out the tours, but there are also some very targeted visitors in your traffic).

I am thinking of using both tactics like the way above. The more effort I put in pre-selling (this can be anything, like making a tour yourself, discouraging people to sign up only for the trial, and than linking to the sign-up page), the more likely it will be a visitor signs up for more months and I will make more from revshare. If I advert through pop-ups and small ads, I assume they will use the trial, some might sign up, but I will make the most of per-signup (please correct me if I am wrong, since this will be part of my marketing "strategy").

I would love to here you experiences, and of course, after I tried it myself, I will also share mine :)

Revshare :winkwink:

EscortBiz 09-18-2003 09:48 AM

it will all be revshare soon, the BS many pull of to pay big per signup will land some in jail and some banned from accepting visa forever.

Good luck

I use a mix of both, but have slowly been moving towards sites offering partnerships, because of what EscortBiz mentioned above. If the program can convert and retain, you'll make more off of each surfer in the long run anyhow.

My best converting and retaining partnerships can now be found in my sig. Take a click, signup and send some traffic.

Mainly revshare, we only use per signup with some sponsors.
We get very good results with socalcash or bangbrosonline, for example.

you want a nice balance of each.

Revshare, cause most of the time you´ll get more $$$ per signup, and it´s a more steady income.

menlovesex 09-18-2003 10:42 AM

By the way, is the 80% revshare of TopBucks really true? Because with their normal $39.95 membership free, you will get about 32 dollar with Revshare. That is almost as much as you would get per-signup. Or does this need a certain amount of sign-ups per month (can't find anything about this on their site)

I will have to echo what everyone else is saying and go with rev share. If you're into the quick buck situation then go for the per sign up. But I honestly feel most if not all sponsors will be going to rev share or if they keep the per sign up it will have some form of rev share built into it.

I think given the changes being implemented by Visa and some of the billing processors it's getting harder and harder for sponsors to stay honest and not shave the hell out of people. There are still honest sponsors out there that aren't shaving but they are having to scramble to come up with more ways to generate money for their programs and will eventually have to phase the per sign up out.

rev share it!

This is really interesting -- seeing everyone saying they're on rev share, but it's not reflected in what I se my affiliates taking. Granted, we upped our PPJ to $40 not too long ago - still, rev share *seems* much smarter in the long-run, no doubt. But there's gotta be a reason more folks don't take it.

Depends on the program. Normially do $17-25 average for each trial signup with revshare. But normially revshare converts better for various reasons, such as people haven't seen the site before.

Do a mix of revshare and PPS. I have approximately 60-70% of my sponsors in revshare programs and this works out very well. I have tested these sponsors retention versus PPS and it works out much better. I have members that stay for 6 months to a year. Once you have a thousand or so people in recurring a month, the paycheques add up very nicely and you can relax a bit :)

It's 80% minus processing fees, i.e. you get $27.17/month.

Still a good pay!

menlovesex 09-18-2003 01:25 PM

So actually it is 68%, which still isn't bad!

chowda 09-18-2003 01:30 PM

its simple.

do u think the site has constant content to make surfers happy and keep them coming back?

yes = revshare
no=pps

give me my money.

shermo 09-18-2003 01:35 PM

It's good to have a mix of both. Send some traffic to the PPS sites because they will make you some cash during the busy periods. It's also key to have some Revshare affiliates as the rebills will save your bank when it gets slow during certain periods.

Not exactly. Most surfers are going to take the 4.95 trial....and then if the members area is any good 1 out of 3 will stay on for the monthly.

So that's 3 X 4.95 = 14.85
Then 1 X 39.95 = 39.95

So the total is 54.80 - 7.59 processing fees (I used 13.85%)
For a net total of 47.21 of which you get 80%

So your payout the first month is 37.76 for 3 signups, or 12.59 per signup.

Of course there will be recurring in the future months that you'll get paid on, but don't go thinking you'll get $32 or $27 or whatever you were figuring right off the bat.

slapass 09-18-2003 02:05 PM

Lone dissenter but go PPS. Revshare seems great if a guy stays 12 months but I get less then 1/3 converting trial to long term. I thought CFF was rocking as I have 2 rebills form 3 months ago but I PPS with them and I think I am ahead.

Why does everyone think revhsare is better for the affiliate but that PPS is doomed to extinction? Maybe revshare is doomed and we will only have PPS if the people who run the paysites agree that revshare pays out more.

clubsexy 09-18-2003 02:07 PM

Revshare will only payout better if the paysites retains. If it doesn't retain though, they won't be paying PPS really.

Double edged sword. Take the big piece now, or gamble on the retaining power?
