WTF? Just saw a commercial for Mtv2 at lunch and it stats...

Mtv2, where the music is...

Mtv stands for music television right? So why an Mtv2? Why not just take all the stupid non-music related shows off Mtv, and just play music like the station was meant to do?

I mean ALL music... not just black music. There was a time when Mtv was really good, they played music videos and music videos only... and they played music videos fom all types of bands...

Personally, I stopped watching Mtv when it became BET 2. I mean I have not seen that channel in a while so I do not know what they play now.. but the last time I turned on Mtv it was all yo yo shit... not a white face to be seen unless you were a white rapper or something.

VH1 has other shows besides music videos... but at least they are music related... WTF does The Real World have to do with Music Television?

Anyone here still watch MTV? Do they ever play Metalica, Perfect Circle, Soundgarden or any other white band that is not hip hop, a boy band or some crap like that? I would take the time to watch and see for myself... but I just ate lunch and I really don't want to see it a second time.

I guess I am getting old.. I just don't understand these things.

I watch mtv2. No bullshit pop. They play punk, rock and such.

so mtv2 is like the original mtv use to be? wish my cable company carried it... I miss music videos..

mtv2 plays their share of 'black music' too... but often times they have two/three hour blocks of videos by genre

Because their format now brings in the big bucks. They don't even play full videos on Total Request Live anymore. Just quick clips in betweem all the rest of the crap.

Don't get me wrong.. there is nothing wrong with black music or hip hop... all I meant was there is already a black channel out there.. BET, this is Mtv... "Music" television... play a little of everything.. black, white whatever... just give it some variety...

and for god's sake... just play music... not these other stupid non-music related shows... if you think you have a hit with these shows... start a new channel for them.

MTV 2 is very different depending on the country you live and watch it.
