Verisign is fucking all of us, Like it?
I am now the first post in this thread!
VeriSign's controversial "typo-squatting" Site Finder service is about to be bypassed by an emergency software patch to many of the Internet's backbone computers. http://www.wired.com/news/technology...,60473,00.html |

Verisign yesterday added wildcard DNS records to all .com and .net domains - redirecting surfers who get lost on the Net to a search page, called Site Finder, run by the company. Those who type in non-existent addresses will also be served up Site Finder, instead of an error message. http://sitefinder.verisign.com/ ------------------------- So many ways to exploit this, its not even funny. Also, they clearly mention that they track and log all traffic to the site. So basically, they have the best list of typo domains ever created. How long before they sell it to someone? Also, how many copyrighted domain are being redirected? Arent cyber-squatting every domain? |

I was wondering WTF that was. I thought I had been hit by some new Windows exploit.
That is pretty fucked up. I bet Microsoft is less than happy about losing the traffic to their error page that is default in Internet Explorer. I love how they hide their overture links with OnMouseOver code. They must have learned a thing or two from adult sites :winkwink: |
Why doesnt it work here?
|
:Oh crap
|
Yeah, microsoft must be pissed, someone is actually more crooked than them!
Imagine the torrents of traffic this represents! A lot of ISPs are blocking that site, hopefully that will catch on. One of the big problems this causes, is that email addresses cannot be validated if their domain is valid. Hello more spam. |
