Using a barbie doll on web page to make a statement....

If you didn't say "barbie" or reference Matell... you just put her in camolflauge and put her on the page with a news story or something....

Could/Would Matell have a lawsuit?

brand0n 09-17-2003 07:09 AM

man, as fast as people are to sue now a days, i would say yes

JD 09-17-2003 07:12 AM

Yes because even though you don't see barbie people will see a barbie and think matel had something to do with it.

Get their OK before you even think about using anything that resembles any copyrighted item

I can speak from experience with Mattell.

In one word, YES.

They will sue for even the smallest thing.

I never used a 'Barbie' or anything, but they send C and D very quickly regarding anything.

Best to not fuck with them.

ESPECIALLY Barbie. Thats their flagship. It is a toy for little girls, and this whole PEDO thing has really gotten companies protective of their names in regards to little kids and association online.

Be careful fucking with Mattell. They cover a wide range of companies too, its not JUST Mattell, when they send you papers it shows the other names. I elieve they mailed me under 'Fisher Price' but its Mattell.

:winkwink:

Leonard J. Crabs is not available

goBigtime 09-17-2003 08:52 PM

Well what I planned to do didn't really mess with them (or barbie or their product names) at all.

Just sort of trying to gauge the situation before it happens.

like this for instance.....

It would be something like that, but used to quickly illustrate how another non-related (to the Mattel product) product or service works.

Sure in this example I could have used a picture of a real UFO, but the Mattel product used is just sort of a funny/cleaver way to explain it.

Should I start preparing Leonard J. Crabs for legal proceedings? :(
