Server administration services?
Can anyone point me to where I could find pricing on server administration services? Looking for pricing for taking care of a currently unmanaged box, anything from occasional remedy to occasional bugs, to security patching and full-time management and monitoring, if needed. Thanks.

why not just get managed hosting?
|
That sounds... circuitous. Why get an unmanaged box, and pay an outsider to manage it. Wouldn't it work a lot better, and probably be cheaper, to get managed hosting?
May I recommend my own provider, SinHost? They have great support. |
$150 a month all patches os upgrades everything needed. Hit me up on icq if interested 14420613

i agree, why not invest for a Fully managed Dedicated server instead. it will save you alot.

I'm looking to start out with a box and add several. I have my reasons for not going managed. Not looking for managed hosting, if I wanted managed hosting I could simply click the link in my sig, that's a rock-solid host that I trust. :thumbsup

Hey thanks for the heads up, flashfreak. DamageX, hit me up on ICQ at 4473278 and I can give you the run-down of what I am doing currently for clients as well as customize pricing according to what you need. If you dont have ICQ just send me an email to the address on file here on GFY. Looking forward to hearing from you and setting something up...

My services are available also. 10+ years in unix and security administration, and all around general hackery. Also, VERY discreet, as I am getting the impression the situation requires it.:Graucho

Some nice replies, hehe.
Eve, discretion should go without saying, whether the situation requires it or not. :winkwink: I'm mainly fishing for quotes right now. The basic requirements should be server setup, securing/patching, help (if needed) in setting up some services (DNS, maybe?), occasional assistance with installing a script here and there and being available for brain picking once in a while, when more advice would be needed. An occasional reboot and service restart might be required as well. Some kind of monitoring might also be a good idea. I'd like to get more quotes in this thread, if possible, please. |
my quote is 300$/month
24x7 monitoring of all your services 24x7 notification goes to me in case anything goes down if serious enough, I will contact you or if not, I will deal directly with your provider 24x7 cell phone support upgrades, patches, new installs, optimization, some script writing, firewalling, security, local & remote server polling in order to assess resources and trends, etc. you can contact me via ICQ @ : 5109209 or e-mail @ [email protected] cheers |
forgot to mention that any additional servers you may have cost only 100$
so if you have 2 servers, it's 400$, 3 it's 500$ and so on... |

Sure, we can keep the info in the thread no problem. Here's what we have to offer:
$250/month per server being kept up to date with all relevant security patches, kernel/software updates. We have 24 hr. pager support and our systems provide 24x7 monitoring of all important services (httpd/bind/sendmail/mysql, etc) on your servers. During "normal" business hours, which are usually until 7pm EST you can reach us on our toll-free support line and after-hours by pager where we guarantee ~10 minute response time in most circumstances. We are experienced in Solaris, FreeBSD, and RedHat operating systems in the UNIX world and in the Windows world, Windows 2000 Server. While we do know NT, we do not recommend it. Experienced in disaster recovery solutions, performance optimization, DNS configuration, script installation/configuration, sendmail, MySQL databases, as well as up-to-date with all security bulletins. If you're interested in talking further, just let me know! |
