Do you think Bush knew about 9/11?

I'm curious to know how many of you think Bush may have knew about 9/11 and failed to act in order to strip the constitution and gain popularity? I know its far fetched but it is exactly what the Nazis did, they burned the Reichstag (German Parliament) and blamed it on the Communists. The very next day they invoked Article 48 of the Weimar Constitution, which permited the suspension of civil liberties in time of national emergency.

Interesting facts:

1. CBS reporter David Martin revealed that weeks before the attacks, the CIA had warned Bush personally of Osama Bin Laden?s intent to use hijacked planes as missiles. That followed the damaging exposure by The Associated Press?s John Solomon of a pre-9/11 FBI memo from an officer in Phoenix warning of suspicious Middle Eastern men training at flight schools?a warning that went unheeded.

2. One such CIA briefing, in July 2001, was particularly chilling and prophetic. It predicted that Osama bin Laden was about to launch a terrorist strike 'in the coming weeks,' the congressional investigators found. The intelligence briefing went on to say: 'The attack will be spectacular and designed to inflict mass casualties against U.S. facilities or interests. Attack preparations have been made. Attack will occur with little or no warning.

3. In response to inquiries from CBS News over why Ashhahahahaha was traveling exclusively by leased jet aircraft instead of commercial airlines in the weeks before 9/11, the Justice Department cited what it called a "threat assessment" by the FBI, and said Ashhahahahaha has been advised to travel only by private jet for the remainder of his term.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2001/...le303601.shtml

4. President Bush's daily intelligence briefings in the weeks leading up to the September 11 terror attacks included a warning of the possibility that Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network would attempt to hijack a U.S.-based airliner, senior administration officials said Wednesday.
http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/05/15/bus....11/index.html

5. On Sept. 10, NEWSWEEK has learned, a group of top Pentagon officials suddenly canceled travel plans for the next morning, apparently because of security concerns.
http://www.msnbc.com/news/629606.asp

6. At approximately 8:48 a.m. on the morning of September 11, 2001, the first pictures of the burning World Trade Center were broadcast on live television. At that time the Bush admin knew that three commercial airplanes had been hijacked. They knew that one plane had been flown deliberately into the World Trade Center's North Tower; a second plane was wildly off course and also heading toward Manhattan; and a third plane had abruptly turned around over Ohio and was flying back toward Washington, DC.
So why, at 9:03 a.m. - fifteen minutes after it was clear the United States was under terrorist attack - did President Bush sit down with a classroom of second-graders and begin a 20-minute pre-planned photo op?

Here is an interesting flash timeline:

All this and the fact Bush opposes an independent investigation into 9/11 makes one wonder.

What gets really scary is when ya try and figure out why Intercept planes were not sent out.

brand0n 09-14-2003 04:30 PM

pretty sure he had an idea.. but what could he do?

ozzymandius 09-14-2003 04:33 PM

This article from the Philadephia Daily News is quite interesting. It is the first of any mainstream American newspaper that I've read that actually comes close to saying that a conspiracy exists within some element of the government:

WHY DON'T WE HAVE ANSWERS TO THESE 9/11 QUESTIONS?

Exactly. As much as I dislike Bush I really didnt believe that there was some sort of conspiracy going on, but the more I look into it the more scary it gets.

Martin 09-14-2003 04:40 PM

Bush knew about 9/11? Are you drugs..lmfao...

candyflip 09-14-2003 04:42 PM

I got a spam with a link to some of these articles. I imagine that putting this article in 10 million or so inboxs each day could have a powerful effect.

Is spam from political parties soon to follow? Has anyone already gotten it? This upcomming Presidential race it going to wild ride...why not include spam that's become so much a part of most everyone's daily life. :Graucho

How do you think the plane that ended up in the field in Pennsylvania had debree scattered 5 miles away. Proclaim all the passengers as "heroes" and plaster it all over TV and no one will give it a second thought that that particular plane was shot down.

Of course he knew. We've been looking for an excuse to get into the middle east since Bush 1. This was the perfect way to do it. We've taken over 2 countries already.

Nathan 09-14-2003 04:58 PM

stevet,

there are eyewitnesses that saw the plane fly over their head and then crash behind a hill.

there are no eyewitnesses that saw a fireball fall from the sky or some mid-flight explotion.

crockett 09-14-2003 05:03 PM

honestly after doing some research on the subject, I think the US govt had quite abit of info that something big was going to happen... and they knew it was going to be an air attack using planes... now either someone ignored all the warnings from several countries or someone wasn't doing their job... either way, I think the answers should be brought to the public...

a little info on the many many warning pre 9-11

and this

gothweb 09-14-2003 05:08 PM

They probably knew something big was coming. It does not mean they could have stopped it, though. I do wish they had done more... After all, look how much they were willing to do *after* the attack. Why didn't they take it as seriously before? There's a proverb about a horse and a barn door.

directfiesta 09-14-2003 05:16 PM

Bush knew nothing, knows nothing and will never know anything.

The administration knew: they were warned and offered assistance and intel by Soudan ( where Osama resided till getting expelled bu the Soudanese), but they slammed the door on these allies ( nothing new).

Osama even warned the US during an interview with Cnn correspondant ( Garnett I think).

And let's not forget that the previous terrorist act in the USA ( aside from the rednecks of Oklahoma ) was against the WTC.

This sad event served well the mayor of NY ( became a hero...???) Bush and his oil friends.

noshit 09-14-2003 05:21 PM

Terrorists and politicians are soul mates. Politicians provide the means, terrorists provide the cause.

BlueDesignStudios 09-14-2003 05:21 PM

Yeah I think Bush new about it

After it happened though

One of his advisors probably told him

Either that or maybe he watched CNN that evening

Bush isn't that Stupid! :)

katman 09-14-2003 05:25 PM

Let's take that a step further...Did congress know about 9/11 before the election and decided to put bush into office to deal with it, so they could have all the corporate tax ease, etc...considering Gore's problems getting Florida, New Mexico and other states, it's strange that right after being elected the 9/11 situation would happen.

Food for thought.

Free thinking like this is what alot of American's don't have. I applaud you.

Conspiracy or no conspiracy....do your own thinking and research...and don't believe everything just because it was reported by the government.

Questions beyond what was in the article...

1. What is Bush Sr.'s tie with Carlyle Group and the Bin Laden family?

2. Was Bin Laden treated at an American hospital in Dubai and then let go...before Sept. 11th, but while he was on the CIA's most wanted list?

3. (not read many places at all) Why did some people that escaped the WTO center claim the bottom floor looked like a bomb had went off after the planes hit? Did something else happen to "help" the buildings collapse?

Again.....all this stuff might mean nothing...but it might mean something. Don't dismiss anything without reading what you can and making your own judgement.....if you are going to pass judgement that something is false, at least educate yourself on both sides of stories.

In the 60's, only 4% of the US population thought the JFK murder was a conspiracy. Now 94% think it was. Shows that you can't dismiss anything...and also shows the Americans in general believe, at first, what there government tells them.

One thing I've always thought was strange was the collapse of WTC 7. I've never heard anything on why the 47 story building collapsed.

You're missing the point. The point in question is was Bush aware that the attacks were going to happen beforehand and let it happen. He certainly benefited from the attacks, and he took full advantage (and still does) of using 9/11 to push his agenda, from invading Iraq to passing thousands of pages of legislation unchallenged.

DUBLIN 09-14-2003 06:22 PM

Yes he knew.
He wants the oil.

KC 09-14-2003 06:33 PM

He didn't know..

Even if signs may have been there, you have only connect the dots in hingsight.

Isn't that the building that was burning out of control for 7 hours or something like that? There was a documentary I watched this Sept 11th that clearly showed it (? I think) fully involved and glowing with fire.

I'd love there to be a conspiracy, but I think it was just a crazy day.

Someone did - apart from the participants - or...some folks are incredibly stupid, but I doubt they are that stupid :)

theking 09-15-2003 01:05 AM

In answer to the topic title...no...but I do find conspiracy theories amusing...and those that believe them...even more amusing.
