Last night's Lahaina festival
 

was a fatality on the road near the poly tunnel. everyone got stuck sitting on the road all night.

for those that don't know, there's only one road to and from the west side of the island. They had it shut down all night. Of all nights, it had to be when everyone was over there for the festival. What a fricken mess.

damn bro sorry that fucking sucks!

there's a goat trail that goes up over the top around the other way.... thought I'd be slick and try to take that, but we made it about halfway, near to Nakelele Blowhole, and it was shut down too, so we ended up turning around. Cops were smarter... didn't want the entire festival taking that road at night. Too treacherous.

oh we made it to the festival.... we couldn't get back home. The fatality happened as soon as we got there. We saw the cops and fire trucks go screaming by as we were walking in. One of the bands announced it about 2 hours later.

it was way bigger than last year.... pretty good time. Food was incredible again. There was three different bands... all Hawaiiana flava music. Beer garden kinda sucked. Not much variety in there. Ran into a few friends, and mostly bullshitted with them until the end.

no pics though, cuz we left Home Depot too late, so we went straight over to the west side from there instead of coming home first... which is also why we couldn't stretchout and sleep in the back of the truck for a while and wait out the road issue.... it was full of crap from Home Depot.... lol

I stayed down in Ekahi back in 99', so I know what you are talking about re: the roads. Funny, how Lahaina, seem so far away when you are on Maui.
