Just had some dude in China join my site. I kind of have a bad feeling about this, I thought they weren't allowed to surf porn over there. It looks like he's in mainland China and used a Visa card. Is this a chargeback waiting to happen?

They can't surf porn? My stats sure show that they do.

I was under the impression that it was heavily filtered. My fear is that sooner or later my site will be filtered and this guy won't be able to get in and then charge it back.

I've never had a signup from China, but I've had one from Korea and a couple from Japan... I think I even had one from India. It does make me a little nervous. :Graucho

However, if they end up getting scrubbed so hard that a rebill fails, they've still had their full months worth of site access... why would they charge back?

Ah, I get it now. When you say filtering you mean censoring of sites, not scrubbing. Hmm, that could be an issue, I guess you should keep an eye on that account - or try emailing him with your concerns so he stays in contact if something does happen.

I still need to set up something to check rebills against accounts, and send me a warning if the account has been dormant for more than a couple of weeks... a refund and quick explanatory email could save a chargeback in the future.

They are heavily censored by their government, who in fact controls all of China's Internet.
But it's the more savvy users that make use of a software of somekind, and "break thru" the governments control,,, and surf porn along with other "unacceptable" sites.

Think 100's of millions of untapped customers,,,, and if you know
Chinese for your sites TEXT,,,, you'll be rich.

Twisty, you do realize that under US Govt laws, you wouldn't be able to even contest a chargeback? The Chinese govt has laws against pornsite signups and our own govt abides by those laws. ;-) it's no mecca of an untapped market unless they change their law. Most Islamic countries are the same. :winkwink:

Yes, I do realize that. It's not like I can contest one anyway, CCBill doesn't exactly go to bat for you on those as far as I know.

This guy was kind of a fluke, I don't really go out of my way for Chinese traffic.
