Best places to go and elope?

Due to family issues between my fiancee and her mother/sister (both bitches), it might be best that she and I elope. But invite my parents and her father to the ceremoney.

Any suggestions on places to do so?

The first one to say vegas gets smacked in the head!
We want something just right... Let your suggestions rip!

actually vegas is nice - if done right

dropped9 09-12-2003 11:18 PM

I would imagen so Sleazy... But both of us have done vegas multiplie times. For this ocassion we need to do something that hasnt been done yet. Something that I can plan and blow her socks off... Yanno what I mean?

It has to be romantic, and charming. But with that sense of "ahhh" on the air... Yanno what I mean?

Can you elope anywhere besides Vegas? It's the only place you can really do it on the spur of the moment since you can get a wedding license at 3 am...takes about 10 minutes.

Go for Vegas

theking 09-12-2003 11:52 PM

Non existent.

SleazeQueen 09-13-2003 01:12 AM

I'm looking into a Vegas wedding myself. I love the chapel at Mandalay Bay and the one at Treasure Island if I'm on a budget. I've got to get back and see the ones in the new tower at Venetian.

But anyway. So I don't get slapped. Another place we've looked at is Lake Tahoe. There are some really gorgeous places on the lake and it's in Nevada so you don't need all the paperwork and stuff.

There are others if you've got money. Jamacia. Tahiti. Hawaii. Or some nice ones in snowy places like Whistler and Banff. What are you looking for? Fast and easy? Quick and cheap? Fancy and extravagant? Hot and sandy? Cold and cozy?

We are looking for something cold and cozy, with a slight bit of awe/mystery in the air...

My parents chose Washington, DC when they eloped, but I'm pretty sure they were moving there at the time. Niagara Falls might be nice and not too far to travel.

Thanks for the link PK! I bookmarked it!

The falls is also a possibility... We originally were going to do it next october, the big wedding that is... But we are thinking about saying fuck it and eloping this january on the 14th... That will be our 10 year anniversary of when we started dating.

ColBigBalls 09-13-2003 01:29 AM

Go for the elope.. either you get back and there understanding, and through a party, or you have to buy less X-mas gifts next year

Totally do it now when you want to do it and you can always throw a big reception as long a time after the wedding as you feel like it.

If you elope between June and Sept, check out Mackinac Island. (pronounced Mack-a-naw) It is located on the tip of Northern Michigan...no cars on Island...8 miles around. A fabulous place with quaint little hotels and restaurants. How do you get around? Rent a bicycle or a horse drawn carriage or WALK!

I worked on the Island at the Irquois Hotel during the summer when I was in college. There is a big hotel called The Grand Hotel that has the longest porch in the world. There's a great pool, and lots of activities, or you can sit in your room and stare at the view and the Mackinac Bridge and stuff your face with the best fudge in the world.:thumbsup

Grand Canyon, wait until winter? How about the Niagara Falls? I hear the water kinda chills the atmosphere. :)

Strawberry Point: North East Iowa in late October. Take a hike down the trout streams when the early winter fog settles and listen for the cry of eagles above. You'll get your wish.

No where near cold but of all the places I have been in this World, that I want to go back to, (and it's been more than a few) South Padre Island, Texas. It seems to have some sort of 'energy' when you're there.

And you can walk for miles beachcombing with not a soul around. [insert hint here since Headie is clueless usually] If you go after a hurricane, there is even a chance to find some treasure from one ship wreck or another. It might not be reallll treasure but it can surely work the imagination!
