What percentage of surfers are still on dial-up?

I'm looking for numbers regarding the amount of surfers still using dial-up. Mainly Americans, Canadians, Europeans... anyone that can successfully join a paysite.

Where can I get numbers like this?

queer 09-10-2003 05:03 PM

Here... not... lol
To my knowledge, US/CAN it's around 20%
Europeans.... Well... Quite vage... cannot specify.
Even europeans have old russian shit. Some even top niche stuff!
Euro market quite difficult. But for sure... LOTS more euro surfers on dial up. 100% sure
Like my personal estimate? 60-70% europeans on dial-fuck.

ya i think that's about right.. but i think anywhere from 50 - 75% still have the modem plugged into the wall so they could still dial up to a dialer..

Sly_RJ 09-10-2003 05:07 PM

I'm not interested for dialer purposes. I'm looking for people with slow connections.

Europe... Eastern, even some western europe countries are still mostly on dial-up and slow DSL. Freaking thought btw.

apparently it's 28% of european internet users, U.S. is 35% and in some parts of Asia upto 85% link

More than you would think. It's dandy that we have a T-1 at the office but I dial up from home........no, I'm not a porn surfer, but I'm your typical Internet Surfer.:2 cents:

All my machines are on dial up, except for 2 of them on my "broadband" satellite which is total crap too.

I have never even seen a cable modem or DSL or any type of high speed connection :1orglaugh There's none available in my area and I have heard a lot of people that have that problem. If only 20% of people in the US still used dial up, AOL would nearly be out of business, considering AOL for broadband isn't available everywhere either.

http://www.bandwidthplace.com might have some statistics or input on the percentage.

Azathoth 09-10-2003 07:41 PM

I got a survey on one of my sites about this...

# Normal Dialup: 17.11%
# ADSL: 29.67%
# Cable: 41.74%
# Wireless: 1.38%
# LAN: 6.63%
# Other: 1.88%
# Satellite: 1.58%

Cant imagine life without broadband...In Canada dial-up is low...15% or so...Canadians have more highspeed connections per capita then anywhere else. Dont know about the rest of the world

brand0n 09-10-2003 07:57 PM

im thinkin all your numbers are WAY off

aol is the biggest isp in the usa, atleast 60% of aol are on dial up

Dial up users are your target audience. They are the ones that are new to the internet and havent surfed around thousands of free porn sites. (Why you ask? Because it would take years) They probably havent visited many porn sites and dont have time for movies.

digifan 09-10-2003 08:50 PM

What he said... so I don't like flash overused, nothing but well designed, simple yet elegant sites. Even in the UK it takes ages in big town to switch to dsl which is crap also.

TheJimmy 09-10-2003 09:19 PM

I'd imagine Jupiter Communications or some other online stats house would have that data....

somewhere...
