Can I charge back a wire transfer?
 

Stupid me, I prepaid a coder for a shoppingcart script, and it's not done. My bank hasn't answered my question yet.. so I wanna know, generally is it possible to charge back a wire transfer?

i've sent many wires over the years, and once you send it, it's gone.

Yes you can, other bank will notify the beneficiary about your request, but they wont return you, your money back until he doesnt give them some response.

If he says no, you wont get money back.

I paid a bit over 400 euros. I don't really wanna pay it again. I'll try to hook him up. I haven't seen him on ICQ, but I'll send him some snailmail. lol.

Wiretransfers can only be returned if the actual transaction was initiated by an unauthorized party. So, if you made that transfer yourself there is very little chance you will ever see that money again. :(

go to the bank and tell that some old guy put a bomb around your neck and forced you to do the transfer. Now he is gonna and you want to reverse the transaction. It's pretty common in states. :Graucho

we can do a stop payment on a wire but its difficult, intermediary banks have to cooperate as well... if your using a regular bank chances are low unfortunately, just put his name n all here so anyone knows NOT to deal with this guy

Not yet. I don't wanna give up hope yet..as I REALLY need the script, and I know for a fact he had started on it. It's been a week or so that I haven't seen him online. :(

IMHO wire transfer can't be chargebacked. It's like when you would give him a cash. You can ask him to give it back.
Or you can sue him, if he signed some agreement, that he will make the script with given parameters within given period.
But i think that for 400 e it's too complicated :)
