why verotel was down ... again...
 

Yesterday, September 8th 2003, the Verotel servers in
Amsterdam as well our phone exchanges, experienced
downtime because of a power loss in downtown Amsterdam.

As a result, Verotel was not reachable for more then
four hours by Internet (transactions, email) and by
phone.

The total downtime was:
September 8th 2003: 12h30 - 15h15 CET
September 8th 2003: 22h10 - 22h45 CET
September 9th 2003: 00h10 - 00h55 CET

Our systems do have Uninterruptable Power Supplies
and a generator, which at the time of the blackout,
did not kick in. Currently we are researching the
reasons why this did not happen.

Also we are taking extra steps to prevent such a
large downtime in the future.

Maybe consider using a free web-based email for an emergency contact, or something.
