Gay School Opens In Us
 

America's first publicly-funded school for gay and lesbian teenagers has opened its doors in New York.
The first day for the 72 students was marked with noisy displays of support and opposition.
Opponents staged a demonstration outside the Harvey Milk High School waving placards.
One of them said: "Sodomy - it's to die for."
One of the protesters said opening a school for gays was a retrograde step.
He said: "We're going back to the point where blacks and whites will be wanting their own schools. It's absolutely insane."
But a school supporter said all the pupils wanted to be there and had the blessing of their families.
"It's a place where they can feel safe," he added.
Harvey Milk High School is run by a charity but receives £2m in cash from city officials.
It hopes to increase the number of students to 100 in the near future.

A publicly funded school I don't see how they can discriminate, I could understand if it was a private school.

I don't get it, It's been open for years! It has only now been funded by the city so there's a lot of uproar about it. For years you could pass that school and see dozens of teen trannies and other sights.

it is legal .. anyone can go to the school im sure .. but it is meant for gay people .. kind alike the retard schools .. they are meant for retards and if you think your a retard you can go to it ... but if you go to the gay school and yoour not gay .. well... you woudnt fit in to well :P

Very few people in this city care about this issue. We have much more important stuff to worry about daily. Only San Francisco eclipses us when it comes to having Gay/Lesbian/Trannie people. We might have more. But who the fuck cares if they have their own school. If a certain set of people wanted to get together and jump off a bridge why stop them? They aren't bothering us so let them be.

It's a good idea that they go to school in a place where they don't get beaten and hassled all the time. Selective schools discriminate too.. big fucking deal. stop whining and worry about more important things.

I can make an augment for both perspectives.


1> Segregation is reverse discrimination, I am glad I went to a school full of a lot of different people from all walks of life. Having them around toughened me up to the - Real World I would face once I left School. At the time however there were periods where my life was purgatory!!

I attended a Private Boys School !! Yes lots of Great stories !!
Although I would not recommend someone sending their son to a Single Sex boarding school, I am glad I fell into category 1> above. As I feel I can cope with almost anything life has to dish up to me !!

Only thing was the initiation ceremonies. Tying you down to a bed naked and rubbing mentholated liniment onto your balls. When all these burly good looking boys did this to me when I was 13 I cracked a rock hard, so they all ran away before they rubbed the liniment on me !!:1orglaugh
