DIdn't watch the video because im on the 56k now, but whoever said 'Is the AMG stock?', theres two things that could have happened here.

1.) It was a 99 or 2001 Cobra, or 2.) The AMG was quite modded.

You're comparing a 390hp/390ft lb torque weight 3650 car to a 349hp/391tq weight 4800+. It will take heavy mods for the AMG to even get past the weight disadvantage on a stock Cobra let alone one modded.

Not sure about this one, but stock Mercedes SLR McLaren Edition is 3.9s to 60mph.

e55 not nearly that fast.

Hands down, Merc. The E55 on its own is a bad assed, kick ass, you better move if it comes up your rear on the highway car!!!!

Actually it was a 2003 cobra and they said that it dynoed 450 RWHP.

Whoops, I didn't know the 2003 model was upgraded, I only had the 2002 spec memorized, the non supercharged edition.

I was looking at the 2002 model that I guess wasnt supercharged, thats pretty sweet. Is it's weight still 4810 tho? A guy mentioned the Cobra was 450rwhp which equates to over 520 flywheel hp, so I still maintain the e55 has isn't stock. I think the guy who has the e55 actually posts on SVTPERFORMANCE.com perhaps, because I remember some guy there posting a couple of days ago a video of his e55 (He says it runs about 11.3 in the 1/4) racing a friends 450rwhp 03 Cobra.

Btw I wasn't trying to insult the e55's I know they are badass.

i've driven the brand new SL500, less than two weeks ago (days before i bought my new C4S). i came away thinking the car had waaaay too many dodads and gadgets (over 750 page manual!!). i was seriously considering getting one, but as much as i like the car, it just wasn't for for me. i love sports cars too much...

Tell me about it. People are always harassing me about my Cobra 'ooh why didnt you get a ___insert luxury car model here__ it has leet features'. I just don't need in dash navigations, climate control that utilizes force fields, features that drive the car for me and make sure I dont hit the person in front of me, etc.

390 rw or flywheel hp in a stock 2003 Cobra?

It's rated 390 flyhweel, but the average 03 stock cobra dyno after 2500 miles (breakin) is around 375rwhp, so its more like 425 flywheel stock. Under rated quite a bit, for once.

It is strange, but Mercedes faster :)

Odd. I've seen dyno charts posted on the net, and they are all near 360 rwhp. Do you have a dyno of yours?

Do you people really like Mustangs? I wouldn't take one even if I got it for free. Not saying it must be a nice car putting up with an AMG merc, but still...

1) The AMG *is* really that fast.. 0-60 in 4.3 seconds (http://autos.yahoo.com/newcars/detai...nt=performance)

2) The '03 Cobras stock are really, REALLY fun cars to drive.. lots of HP and lots of torque for a very cheap price.

3) There was no 2002 Cobra (99-01-03-05)..

4) The stock '03s are running around 370 rwhp, when the claim by Ford is 390 flywheel HP.. severly underrated - they are probably 425 flywheel.

5) Cobra vs MB? Not even close.. take the MB every time, but we're talking a $37k car vs an $80k car.. who in their right mind would take the cheaper car? If you wantd the Cobra, take the Benz, sell it and mod the shit out of the Cobra.. =)

The stock Cobra is really a great car for the money, but if you took an '01 and threw a Vortech SC and some other simple mods, you'd have a 550-575hp monster for less than either the '03 or the E55.. and you'd be a sleeper - no one would know until you blew their doors off. Not saying that anyone's done that.. ;-)

A lot of people talk shit out of their ass.. all I know is that the dynos I saw at JBA Racing (San Diego) on a stock '03 were ~370hp.

However, keep in mind that the Ford production line for '03 Cobras was shut down and re-tooled after the 1st run of cars (I never did hear what the problem was but I know it happened because I was wait-listed for the second production run). It's likely that the performance was modifed (either up or down).

my buddy has a vortec supercharged 98 cobra - they are sweet cars. my first car was an 85 5.o - mustangs are dope.

the thing about mercedes is you can smoke ricers in your heated leather seats while you sip your latte.

i have an 89 crx with a NA jspec sir b16 swap that runs the quarter in 14.5. i had a 98 turbo integra gsr that ran a 12.7. the fact is those cars might be faster than some traditional luxury cars, but you have to understand that at the end of the day its still just an integra or a crx.

buy a crx for 2k spend 2500 on a motor and 3k on internals and turbo = 7k and yes you will beat a lot of cars

but just because you can beat a ferrari doesnt mean youre going to pull more hoes in a crx that mentality is retarded.

I am not 100% sure, but I believe they stopped production because of quality issues with the heads?
We were actually looking at Cobras at an SVT dealer yesterday. We are going to be buying a Lightning. :Graucho

E55 is a sweet ride. I was all set to get one, until I saw how small they actually are. Car is actually as fast my Ferrari.
