I have boxes w/RS (aka EV1servers.net). All are Linux boxes. If you go into the forum at http://forum.rackshack.net and look at the Windows subject area, you'll see they're having more problems with the OS than they are with the box itself.

We have 4 free hosting servers there..they are great.. never down..

You must have admin skills or have someone that can set it up for you..

you get a good server, you just don't get any support. You have to install and set up everything on your own.

Rackshack is good company and has unbeatable prices, but you need to admin your box alone. If they sucked that bad they wouldn't be one of the largest hosting co. in the world. When rackshack puts up new boxes they are gone in hours.

Here is my experience with RackShack:
- Rock-solid servers & connectivity
- Buy a plain Linux server without Plesk or similar shit
- Their so-called "customer support" sucks big time
- Do NOT expect them doing anything for you except connecting & resetting your box

:2 cents:

Believe me.. you get a lot worse support from a lot of supposedly better companys!

Look at all the threads about RackShack. 90% of the people knocking them are other hosting companies. Why do you think that is?

Considering customer support is not part of the package, I don't know what you were expecting. Besides, I know when we were first setting up with them they were rather helpful to a point.
