Brasil has a lot of different races, for example i went to Blumenau a small town in the south which is a kind of german colony (almost every girl is blonde, also they have a big yearly oktoberfest party) and of course a lot of african and native people, and racism is not even in the dictionary there.

I've never been to Blumenau, but would love to. I was in Florianopolis last year.

Gramado, Canela, Bento Gonçalves, Garibaldi and Nova Petrópolis (Rio Grande do Sul) -> all are german / italy colonies... they rock! I was there in July 2001. Gramado is so fucking beautiful.

I´ve been to Oktoberfests in Blumenau and Munich, I had more fun in Blumenau.


Also, talking about communities: there is a city in Brazil called Americana (do you know it, Jer?), founded by American expats, I read somewhere that many people still speak English (as primary language) over there. There is a city called Nova Holanbra, the biggest flower producer in Brazil, many Dutch speakers there. I remember reading about cities with Polish, Ukranians, ...

I've been in Americana (it is in Sao Paulo, where I lived till June) but just for a few hours so I don't know it. The other city is called just HOLAMBRA. I've been there as well (in a Flower Expo). It's very beutiful.

We have some cities that looks like Swiss (Campos do Jordao - SP, Monte Verde - MG and others).

In Sao Paulo we have huge italian and japanese (the biggest outside Japan) cummunities.

I can't wait to visit Blumenau. Maybe next year.
