I had my account frozen but I was able to get it opened again.

ztik 09-04-2003 09:51 PM

I had a paypal account for about 1 1/2 years; I used it on a regular basis to pay out clients. Well business was going pretty well and I was making some good-sized deposits. Right when it hit the $15,000 mark paypal instantly froze the money on deposit.

They wanted all sorts of crazy things, like credit statements from the card that was on file (I had the card reissued so I didn't have any statements from that card). They also wanted gas bill, water bill, and bank account statements. I lived in an apt at the time so I didn't have either of those. They refused to give the money back!

I called up wells fargo and they refunded the money to me right away, they said they were going to get in contact with paypal to get the money back. Not sure if they ever did or not

brizzad 09-04-2003 09:51 PM

i've had them take $480 from me and shut my account down

Gemini 09-04-2003 10:06 PM

We've used them forever and not had even a sneeze of a problem. :thumbsup

I know quite a few people that have had problems but ever one of them did something to cause the grief.

The motherfuckers ripped me off for $3000. They froze my account and I am still not able to get at it.

They said I had used the account to sell an adult membership and that was against their rules. I forgot to remove a paypal logo from one of my multiple join pages and the guy sent the money to me with the url of my site etc.

I have sent a ton of info, driving license, crdit card statemens, driving license again blown up 200% ( the usual excuse from them of not being able to read the first one I sent) etc etc.

They say they the money gets released after 6 months, but I reckon I can whistle for it.

Dont use Paypal for anything adult. Your account will be frozen and you will be fucked over.

One thing to say to Paypal.

I didn't remove all references to PayPal from my adult sites; they froze my account. I removed the references; my account was mine again within 3 days.

We were with Paypal for 18 months and they charged us 4.5% and after we had proved ourselves, took 3 months, we had instant access to our money.

We lost our account 3 weeks before the end date for adult and they sent a check 4 weeks after that time. In 18 months we hed one CB for $140 which is not 1% of one months turn over.

We are now with a company that takes 15% of our money, hold back 5% until we have enough in our account to satisfy them.

So all you whingers about Paypal freezing your account who are you with now and what are you paying now? We now get ripped off thousands every month in charges. Paypal were the best, they stamped down on people who could not prove who they wereto keep the charges reasonable.

Third party processing for us is an expensive nightmare, they either will not deal with us because part of the business is in CZ, or we have to use their shopping basket, or they have a $150 limit (Good Joke :) )

I think a lot of the problems we now face as an industry can be layed at the doors of third party processors. They were processing for guys that were over the limit on CBs, but could make it look good or balance it against the good companies. Plus processing for sites that were clearly illegal or very suspect.

My account is frozen for accepting subscription payments for my site. They say they'll return my funds after a 6 month waiting period. That's BS! No reason they shouldn't refund my money the second they closed my account.

That's a big part of the trouble with paypal. It's not your money. It's just numbers on a server. You just give them money and trust that they'll reimburse you at any time.
