Mo money, mo problems - broke up with my fiancee
 

I just broke up with my fiancee. Or I should say she broke up with me. :(

We started dating after meeting on the first day of work at our first job out of university. For 5 years we struggled to pay of bills, student loans and better our lives. The minute we had some extra cash because of my adult business she starts getting ideas about going back to live in her home country Trinidad (where she grew up until she was 17). To make a long story short, after 10 years of living in Toronto she has moved back and left me high and dry.

Lessons I have learned:

1. Don't trust a girl that grew up in another country with a very different culture.

2. Don't let a woman know how much money you are making/saving. Make sure all living expenses are evenly shared.

3. When you start getting bad signs in a relationship address that shit RIGHT AWAY or else they just grow into bigger problems and you'll end up wasting more time on a doomed relationship that you have to.

Anyone else have stories of breaking off an engagement or ending a long-term relationship?

Lessons learned. Now go get yourself a new better looking hoe bruh..

Yes, in this situation, when I started making more money she started getting the ideas of going back to her home country. When we didn't have any money it was not even an option.

But I actually financed her taking time off work and moving down there (I was there with her for 6 months). If it wasn't for me she could never have gone.

I think money surely brings out the truth. If you have money and score a hot chick, tell her you lost everything in the stock market and are going to have to get a regular job. See if she sticks around.

And if you are on your way making more and more cash make sure that the girl you are with earns her way some how. Don't let her quit her job. Don't start treating her to gifts and fulfilling her every desire before she has clearly proven her commitment to you. If she is having commitment issues for whatever reason that is a big red flag to watch the fuck out. She could be just sticking around because she enjoys the lifestyle but as soon as she gets enough courage she'll be gone.

But life with my 'mexican' fiance is very weird, because he culture & belief`s are so different than mine [white trash?]. She don`t necessarily agree with her family, but she still wants to do things their way just 'so_they_don`t_get_angry' - its very strange being with her when she is so easily convinced by her brothers & sisters about their culture, which she is hardly even around.

If I could give any advice, it`d be to try and get with someone that grew up very similarly to you - if not someone from your old high school, etc. I sure regret passing up some opportunities -

I've always found women to be sooo much understanding then any man I have dated. Now, I have finally found the right woman for me. You know they say opposites attract....but what they don't say is that the oposites won't last. My GF and I are very similar in a lot of ways but there are other things that are different about us. We were friends for close to 5 years before we got together. Things couldn't be better.

I wa sin a BAD relationship with my ex for 4 years. It was funny, because I met my current GF through my ex's ex girlfriend.....lmao......now that's funny. So anyway, she was a worthless piece of goat chunk and stole my money to have her drug flings.....not cool. I was working 2 jobs at minimum wage to pay for her shit...and lived in her moms basement. Her mom also charged me $100 bucks a week..EACH to live there. So, eventually I had it with that shit. I dumped her and moved out within 15 minutes. I lived in my car for a couple of weeks until I could save the $ to have a down payment on my own apartment. Well, needless to say, I got one....had my fun, and moved on from Michigan to Vegas. What she did was cruel. She did not have the courage to break up BEFORE I set her up there. Now she just got a job down there that pays peanuts. The funny thing is that she is racking up all kinds of debt now because she is doing whatever it takes to stay there. We'll see what happens once the line of credit runs out and the credit card is maxed. She can probably last about 6 months there before she has to come back -- unless she finds another sucker to pay her bills for her.

Of course, this breakup has dragged on for months, so enough is enough. Today is a new beginning for me. :)

it seems we are in the same boat. Hang in there. This is my second 5 year relationship that went sour so I now have some experience on how to deal with it. I am not going to dwell on it. I am not going to feel sorry for myself. I have so much to be thankful for that I am not going to let this keep me down.
