Ever got fired from a job? What happened? Why?

can't say I've ever been fired.... I've always been at the top of the game in every industry I've been in. I left trucking at the top. I left AT&T at the top. I'm in adult now.... and if I leave, it'll be at the fucking top.

i got fired from burgerking, cause some dumb bitch told me wrong hours when i called in and asked. then i showed up late and they canned me, that place has really fast turn around for employees.

i think that was my first real paying job.

I got fired on my day off. They said they saw me on the videotape stealing boxes. :thumbsup

I got fired from work experience when I was at high school.

It was a sign of things to come.... work and I have never had a good relationship.

Never will.

fired exactly 1 week after i started working at a dealership. the boss's explanation was that it wasn't my performance. he liked me, and i did well, but this order came from the top.

apparently they hired me because they were going to open the service center on saturdays, but then they decided they weren't going to do it for another year. and, they decided if they weren't going to be open on saturday, they couldn't afford another service advisor.

you got handed a line of shit. They hated you and cut your ass loose. Accept it.

working in the film industry I decided to quit the freelance part and worked for a company for about 3 1/2 years.

They were my main client when I was freelancing.

I was young they took me in kinda like family.

Hell we were all around each other 24-7, work, play etc.

My immediate employers were a husband and wife team, and I even became best friends with her son.

My other employers consisted of one of their best friends who cinched a huge development deal worth like $180 million, and then there was his partner.

Anyway, the husband part of the team we always had a bit of a rough time. He was just an absolute asshole. When their baby was just a couple of weeks old and start to cry he would scream..."shut the fuck up you bitch."

He was a real distant guy, didn't deserve the wife and kids he had.

His wife, always had to sort of "protect" me. Rene was always looking for someone to blame something on etc. and she would have to keep him in check.

But after a bit of time I kinda started getting tired of the shit and just wouldn't take it anymore. I'd tell him off etc.

So all of a sudden my "attitude," became an issue.

I started to get blamed for all kinds of things I had no control over.

The 2 incidents that eventually got me fired:

#1 We had a commercial shoot in hawaii. they asked me to pack the film.
I didn't know how to pack it for travel like that since I wasn't the camera man or his assistant...so I asked another one of their best friends who was also the assistant director.

Well, he pretty much helps me get this stuff packed up. It ends up in Hawaii kinda banged up. Film turns out okay, but it could have been disastrous.

They laid the blame on me.

#2 We were shooting a beer commercial up near big bear.
I was doing the location scouting and found the perfect location for a shot that matched the story board perfectly.

I turned the information over to the company that was in charge of obtaining permits.

Basically they are supposed to handle all of the legal issues. You give the the street addy etc and leave it up to them...they call themselves the 1 stop permit shop.

Anyway, the day of the shoot came around and we are informed by a forrest ranger that even though we have a permit with some government agency we did NOT have a permit with them.

This also became my fault.

A few months later my boss is asking me to come into his office and the next thing I know is I am fired.

Honestly I was kinda expecting it at some point, but I wanted to force them to do it. I was not going to quit and give him the satisfaction.

The last year there was nothing but mind games.

One week they would be telling me I was the best thing since sliced bread...and then when I would approach them about a raise which I had not had one over a year all of a sudden I would be the bad seed again.

Getting fired sucks...LOL

Its like being fired except you did nothing wrong and you get a severence package...

USWeb/CKS (High high end design company worked on and did the back ends for some seriously high profile sites) company was eventualy re-branded as March 1st... Soon went bankrupt

ClearCommerce (Payment Processor, this is the software that lies between the merchent and the banking systems) Still around but not as strong as they used to be...

Electronic Arts (Game Developer, Bank End System Developer, E-Commerce Expert) my dream job...to bad I woke up from the dream...Company exists the studio I worked for is pretty much folded into the mother company (Origin Systems)

Oh well...move on...

I was fired from a tattoo shop I worked at.. Basicly over petty pride shit getting in the way, then 2 weeks later after realizing how much weight I really pulled with clientel the owner said he was sorry and as a good faith jesture he lowered everyone elses space rent $100 a week just so I would come back...

I went back, never had a problem again after that, sometimes people don't realize what they have till its gone I guess..

they only time i was ever fired, was from a hospital job i had back in high school. the reason: i didn't show up for a shift. then the next week, i missed another one. the funny thing is, i'm sure the shifts were changed without informing me - i still remember how stunned i was when i found i'd missed two shifts in a couple of weeks.

however, i've quit at least 10 jobs.

Never fired... only worked at 3 companies, 2 of which were coop semesters in which I was offered full time jobs. Turned them both down to pursue my own venture. 5 years later, I'm still here. Haven't fired myself yet.

No never been. When I worked in the corp. world I always rose through the ranks fast. I'm the diligent type. First one in, last one out, productive, creative, work til the job gets done and could outsell anyone else.

I hate firing people. That's one thing I just have a hard time doing unless they deserved it.

The funny thing is, once I got fired it was under 1 persons drunken rage. The fact was I was not fired and offered to keep my job and then quit. It all worked out in the end.

I sort of got fired from my very first job, 16, doing sales at Cricket Alley. (Women about my age may remember that store, and groan at the thought of it.) This place invented high-pressure sales...which I suck at. I went in to quit the same day they decided they didn't like me anymore, so I call it even.

Of the various jobs I've held...more than half the companies I worked for (and I'm including restaurants :)...) either closed, changed ownership, or drastically reorganized within a year of me leaving. These weren't (I thought) fly-by-night organizations. It was freakish. For a while I thought I was a jinx.

I've never had a "job".

I've been fired probably 15 or 20 times. I have a slight problem with authority figures. :321GFY I always did a good job and everything, it's just that unlike you pussies, I'm not afraid to tell off a boss if they need it.

I got fired once from a bar for stealing a pack of cigarettes!

Only I wasn't going to steal it, the bar was fucking busy, I just grabed the pack, and didn't write it at that moment, the owner was drunk on a stool in front of me. When things slowed down he went bloody pshyco on me, accusing me of stealing the fucking pack and fired me.

I came after the weekend to pick up my check, and the head bartender begged me to come back, said the owner was sorry and shit, but by then I alrady had another bartending job :glugglug

I was fired for looking at porn on my computer...They told me that Friday afternoon and promptly escorted me out of the door...

If it wasn't for that firing, I would probably be a desk jockey right now...I only did porn because I needed to pay bills immediately.

i got fired from selling time shares in florida... i coudnt take the fact that these people were being lied and scammed on..so i really didnt put forth much effort..lasted about two months.. I made good money and didnt really try....was glad they let me go cause everyone talking in third person was getting annoying.

I worked in a hair salon with this absolute female hating faggot...well he took all my appointments and hired a new girl and gave them to her and never bothered to tell me till i showed up and seen them on the appointment book...He was scared and ran and hid in a room till i left the salon... maybe it was the "i'll shove my fist through your fucking head you weasel Dick motherfucker"..but i cant be sure..i sorta quit..but he swears i was fired..:321GFY

I was "pushed" though.. used to work for the government, I applied for a job in the same department, along with about 5 other people that I knew to be incompetent retards (i.e. women).

The interviewers for the job were two women from the same department, but slightly higher up plus one person from head office. Surprise, surprise, one of the women got the job.

I was suss, so I "hacked" their email addresses and found emails from an interviewer to the applicant detailing the questions she would be asked in the interview and the most appropriate answers.

I brought this to the attention of the manager anonymously. Little did I know the manager was having an affair with one of the be-hatches who was interviewing... they assumed it was me because no one else knew how to use a computer for anything but solitaire. Manager had a word to me and said, "puresexnow, sometimes it's better to jump than to be pushed... know what I mean?"

so i left. :321GFY

I got fired once from Nissan. My job at the time was to drive the finished cars off the assembly line into one of several big parking lots. Then I'd wait for a bus to come pick me up and take me to pick up another car.

One day one of the redneck bus drivers started giving a guy with long hair a hard time for no reason other than she didn't like the way he looked... and was making fun of him in front of everybody on the bus. I said something smartass to her (forget what it was), and the next day when I came in they told me to go back home.

That's the only time I've ever been fired.

I got fired from my job recently. I returned to work after mat leave for 6 hours a day, they demanded after a couple months that I return fulltime immediately. I tried to find daycare for my baby and couldnt' that quick so they tried to make me quit. I told them I wasn't quiting and if they couldn't wait til I found daycare they would have to fire me. lol they did. and now I am sueing them!

I'm going to fire myself one day :winkwink:

Not exactly, but close on two occasions... One summer job I had in school decided not to hire me back after a few years of good work. One adult job apparently never got started, since the other parties claimed the contract was never begun.
