Americans! How much taxes do you pay for...

I'm wondering how much taxes do American companies pay for their yearly income? Do you have a certain percentage?

jscott 08-31-2003 01:41 PM

if you have a normal job where the company takes taxes out per paycheck they get about 22-26% taxes taken

if you're talking about adult sites etc it should'nt be as much because now you have business costs....tax deductable shit, hosting, advertising, computer hardware/software, internet costs etc etc

For 2002, this is the corporate rate:

2002 Corporate Tax Rates

Rate Taxable Income

15% $0-50,000
25% 50,001-75,000
34% 75,001-100,000
39% 100,001-335,000
34% 335,001-10,000,000
35% 10,000,001-15,000,000
38% 15,000,001-18,333,333
35% Over 18,333,333

*Personal service corporations pay a flat 35%

This is on NET income, so if you are the director and you happen to pay yourself a bonus equal to your net income, then the tax is 0.

But most states have a corporate tax too, or at least a franchise fee.

Taxes AKA Legal Jack Moves

I swear this is the stupidest tax code I've ever seen:

39% 100,001-335,000

Why in the world would the tax go up in this range but be less above or below it? It's like either an incentive to really succeed or not try at all, but not inbetween.

Yea, that doesn't sound right.

its the most unfavorable tax bracket to be in. thats why you get a really good accountant to either prop you over or it. or keep you under it... plus i think there is a flat fee involved in certain tax brackets as well as the percentage of income.

Its the infamous "bubble" created a few years ago late at night in a deal in Congress.

Remember, it does not help you to get above the bubble. You still pay 39% on every dollar for 100K to 335K.

Yeah, pretty stupid. I get asked about that by like one third of my clients. It's the dumbest thing ever created. I can almost understand higher tax rates as you move up in the brackets, but definitely not bubbles like that. Why go up and then go back down in %? Someone was on crack one day at work.

also, state taxes, fica, unemployment, etc.... Federal tax is not the only tax that has to be paid:(

slapass 08-31-2003 09:52 PM

but if you hit the bubble the SE tax falls off. So saving that 15% there.

12.4%

Still got to pay the 2.9% to Medicare since it has no ceiling.

But that only applies to your personal income and not on the tax on money belonging to the corporation.

The way you talk I doubt if you are old enough to pay tax.

Wait until you leave school and start flipping burgers, then you will understand.
