Yes they are laying off 14,000 employees and fucking their customers.

I want everyone here to try calling 800-GO-FEDEX (800-463-3339) and post how long it took to get to a live person.

I mean if I call its because I need something other then fuckin tracking, they make it impossible to get a live person and if you think to much or hold their system just tells you "goodbye"

Dammit! Ive had such aweful like with the postal service and ups in the last year I finally started using FedX this week.. Now this? Im just going to start raising carrier pigons!

I'm finding that to be pretty much true of many companies these days...

Their automated systems are making it hard for me to stay on the phone that long.

Five phone calls....and an hour waiting...and, I still didn't get to talk to someone from my home warranty insurance place....

It's getting pretty frustrating...

Although, on a positive note...I actually talked to two..count 'em, two live people at PayPal today..and in a relatively short period of time....Not only that...but the situation was resolved...

Have you guys used fedex.com ?? We sometimes overnight 50 packages a week (which is quite small for some sextoy people and such on this board) and we use the regular web site that anyone can use and I don't think we have ever had to call them. Hell, they even deliver the supplies that you need to your door.

Another reason that we use Fedex is because ATL is a huge hub for them so I can take a package to the Fedex Drop Box at the airport until 11pm tonight and it will get there tomorrow morning.....gotta love that :)

Sorry...won't get any Fedex bashing out of me :thumbsup

No, didn't mean to imply that, dude....I was just saying that there are plenty of sextoy people and the like that ship hundreds of packages a day compared to my measly 40-50 a week....but just with our small amount we still love fedex.com.

After re-reading it I probably could have chosen my words better :)

WIth the advent of the Net, E-Mail, and Faxing, FedEX's future growth became very limited.

I used to use them all the time for sending legal documents on business deals. Now you can just fax or e-mail everything.

Times change.

Funny you mention this..I recently had a major problem with fedex. And had to surf their phone menu many times...try this next time.

Its all verbal...at the first menu say, "three" the next say "zero" the next say "help" the next say "more help" and you're in...

Their whole syste went down for 2 days due to the blaster worm too...

The lost 2 of our packages...now I have to file a claim on their asses...they know they fucked up...but they want me to file a claim in hopes I'll forget about it...cockholsters.

I see the point you make about the growth of email, faxing, etc hurting Fedex...but think about how much technology has helped Fedex. Think ebay, and all the ecommerce stores. They have to mail the products some how. Many are using Fedex to do so.

Its the fact that if you call Fedex odds are you want to talk to a live person. With their new operatirng system, when you request to speak with an operator to the automated teller, the system responds saying "Let me help you" I know for sure, I wouldnt sit there and listen to a robot tell me that they wont connect me to an operator until I give them a chance.

actually it has hurt fedex more than helped, so far.

the fedex revenue model WAS based on multiple packages (primarlily documents delivered overnight) to single addy's in densely populated business districts.

e-commerce shipments are single unit deliveries primarily to multiple residential addy's.

they've had to fundamentally change the way they do business,
not easy to do

Funny this thread should popup. I just bitched them out because I sent out a check yesterday, overnight express and checked the tracking this afternoon and they sent it out express saver....3 freakin DAYS, what the fuck shit. It is now in memphis instead of where it should be.

Oh I've hated FedEx for about a year now. Somehow they made it in the Top 10 Most Admired Companies...pfft. Bullshit, that company is horrible! They have lost so much shit, screwed up many packages, I boycott FedEx at all costs.

You guys must have a different system down in the US. I just called pressed "0" and had an agent on the phone in under a minute.
