Ever had a stye?

How do you treat a stye? I found some info on the net that said to use hot compresses 3 or 4 times a day but this is not helping. Any secrets to getting rid of this bitch?

I thought you just let it go down on its own.Don't pic it or iritate it.Leave it alone and it will go down

Styes are blocked mucus glands, also called chalazia or chalazion.
The treatment options are warm compresses, steroid injections, or surgery
The easiest way to give warm compresses is with a hard boiled egg wrapped in a DRY washcloth. This is an old Chinese remedy. The heat last longer than with wet warm washclothes.
If the stye does not resolve with conservative treatment then surgery should be considered.

Liberal application of blood-sucking leeches to the buttocks.

Won't cure it, but you'll quickly forget that it was a problem...

Hot compress' work really well...you have to make sure to use cold ones as well though. It helps with the swelling...the hot ones pull the problem out and the cold keeps the sweeling down.

My mom told me when I was a kid to rub a gold ring on a stye. I didn't believe her, but she took off a ring and rubbed it a few times and I dont think I haver ever had one since.

Old Pagan shit.

if it's a chalazion, you will have to go to the doctor, have him flip your eyelid inside out, cut the eyelid from the inside, and dig the fucker out...I've had a chalazion twice and both needed the doctor to cut...

It isn't a big deal..it's an inpatient surgery and you'll be back out within the hour...your eyelid will just feel swollen and injured and it will bleed a little..

BVF - did you go to an eye doctor or a regular physician? Also, did they give you a shot for the pain first? Yikessssss*

I've got several of those little annoyances right now. I get a new one after every baby I have. The first one I got five years ago and it STILL hasn't gone away. Hot compresses never worked. I am going to have to go to the doctor, but I've heard the pain after that surgery is some of the worst pain EVER so I'm scared. :(

I got rid off one last week.
Right on the nose it was giving me black eyes.
Went to the dr he gave me antibotics and an apointment with a surgen. The night before the apointment I stuck it with a big needle.Instant releaf. It was mostly clear liquid and blood.
Cheers

I've had a couple for over 6 months. They're driving me nuts. I've seen the doctor 3 different times (2 different ones). One was a regular physician, the other was my eye doctor. They both prescribed a cream, it works but only to a certain extent.

Haven't decided what I want to do next...

Let's think about this. If I go rub something on a stye whether it be bananas, gold, a book, my hand, piss, etc. it will eventually go away. So did any of the above make it go away? I've had them before and guess what.......They go away on their own!

advertiser 08-25-2003 11:31 PM
