Sure, they're going to be the ones running all the hydrogen stations...

They need to be bombed into submission.
Luckily, the US armed forces are already there, and thats pretty much all the military force present on in the country.

It would be hard to compete. They have fat cash, and the distribution network in place already.

The ones that they are opening now are existing gas stations changing to add hydrogen pumps or whatever.

Today's engines can be changed over to run on hydrogen also.

really??

thats cool.

so, how does this hydrogen stuff work? do you just get lots of water, separate out the hydrogen, then burn the hydrogen in the engine?

i need help from a gfy scientist

The problem with the most abundant element on earth, hydrogen is that most of it is tied up in water. it takes energy to release it and we do not have any efficent way yet. The first of the hydrogen economy will come from hydrocarbons being cracked to release hydrogen. Don't count out the oil companies they have the hydrocarbons and the distribution system. This will not liberate us from oil until a cost efficent method of cracking water is developed.
