Aw heck, I love manga, anime too! I was around when it started. Matter of fact one of the patriarchs in my fam was great friends with the father of anime/mange Tezuki Osama. I would get all the japanese comics in japanese when I was a kid. Ya had to read em right to left though.

Some jobs I do in a western style and some in manga style. Heck, I used to work with the company that produces the 'Dragonball' series. Manga is cool!

If you get a chance, go to a comic store and pick up 'Mai The Psychic Girl'. It's gotta be one of the coolest comics in history.

Ah cool, I thought you didn't like manga because I only saw your western style art. I'd like to draw too, but I just can't do it anymore (drawing is more for people with patience and people that actually CAN live at least a few hours without their PC). I'm a bit more geekish so I'm doing webdesign now. I'm thinking about buying some digital art stuff so I can try drawing too again.

A reason I'm not really into comics is because I can't find any comic stores close to me. I live in the netherlands, and all you can find here is weed and whores. So I gotta live with the manga I see on tv.

Hey, Chris' work is great! Glad to know he's Greek too! I got tons of pals who are from Greece. Many of them their families got here in late 1800s early 1900s. Families been friends for over 100 years!

I'll be sure to show his site off to the gang back home. Bet he's got relatives there who'll be happy to see his work!

Hey, every see any of Arthur Suydam's artwork? Did 'Cholly and Flytrap' for Heavy Metal years ago. Art is one cool dude!

Nope, love Manga, grew up on the original stuff. Reason why I don't do a lot of it is that there're traditional and non traditional manga styles. Styles vary, but there are certain constants. So my manga style is unique and I don't want to show it off til I produce more stuff mainstream. Reason is because the minute you put out a new twist on manga, everybody and their third cousin twice removed dupes your style and you get lost in the wash.

That's why my main style is classical. It's impossible to duplicate because you've got to really know how to draw in the format of the masters which is only achieved by really going out and drawing from life. No other way. It separates the chaff from the wheat.

Too many artists study from already produced art never learning from life. When pressed to go out and create something original they fall apart and end up in court.

Once you've mastered life drawing you can create so many styles you'll never go stale.

So that's the manga problem. On the other hand, I'm a master storyteller. Lotsa guys can draw cool shit, but a rare percentage can get you to understand what the hell the drawing means.

Again, you have to go out and meet and appreciate people to learn how to communicate with images.

Greg, haven't heard of Suydam but checked him on the net and saw some samples - nice stuff but too cartoonish for my taste

as for manga, its artistic value is zero

The idea is cool, I just find the body position a little unnatural, and the nipples looks more like she's having an alergic reaction. Maybe you'd try doing it in plain ink, at least it looks better to my eyes. Take a look at Harvey's toons at http://www.fdsign.com/draws to see what I mean

I used to read all that Euro stuff years ago, when the magazines were all over the place, Bilal, Manara, sure I remember Suidyam and many others, Corben was really big at the time.

BUT for erotica, I'd have to go with the japanese all the way, not only do the character designs push all the right buttons, but the japanese artists have the most twistedly perverted imaginations you can imagine.

BUT if you're looking for a western style artist for comission work my reccomendation is to check out catthouse studio, they're pretty damn good.

1. - the lines are horribly cut-out and obviously not done via illustrating software or on a seperate layer
2.- the shading/highlighting does not fit the style and is completely off, there are lights coming from every direction
3.- the left tit is much larger than the right
4.- the angle of the board is completely off, and the type looks pretty bad
5.- the hair looks like one stiff piece and lacks any type of movement
