Joe - there are a couple of ways to get the whole thing in focus, but to be honest with you, I like it just the way you shot it. By having the foreground "and" the background out of focus, you bring the viewers attention to the most important part of the picture - the lips :)

If you want to make the whole pic sharp and in focus, you can shoot with a smaller aperture or instead of zooming in as you have done, you can zoom out to wide-angle and just physically move in closer. This will produce a different effect that you might or might not like, but it will carry your focus farther.

Dean i also run into problems with shadows from the toys. Should i use an overhead strobe on a boom.. the close ups are very important for me.
