Well i have been saving them in a jar for the last year and i cut my toe nails every week so i would guestimate that there are roughly 468 individual toe nail peices in various stages of toe-jam-iness. :thumbsup

I almost always up for bartering if the services are equal, traffic, graphics etc etc I am always up for helping people out. The barter system is the best way to get what you need in most instances.

We do barter in this industry, we exchange goods and services using PayPal, StormPay, EPassPorte, etc. electronic money with our fellow webmasters.

And you are right the whole system we use today in the US and many other places around the world was all built upon the barter/trade system.

You have to barter "something" for buying power unless you're given buying power for free (gift money or asset of value), loaned buying power (credit card, credit line), inherited buying power (money or assets), found buying power (money or assets on the street somewhere) or out right steal buying power (this is a stickup, fraud, etc). That's all money really is, it's a representation of buying power or better put, it IS the power to buy/barter/trade/etc. something.

In your example, you have to barter something in order to get buying power (unless one of the other scenarios took place). You could barter your skills/time for something other than money or for money. Most people barter their skills/time to an employer in exchange for money.

Exceptional people may barter someone elses skills/time to someone and earn a portion of the buying power or bartered item as a "brokers" fee commission. Either way you slice it and dice it, there has to be a trade of something.

When I say money, I mean it in a variable context. For some people, money is pieces of paper that you can buy things with at the grocery store for example. For others, money is Gold, Silver, Dollars, Lines of Credit, Stock, Bonds, Promissory notes, antiques and other assets.

Money is always a fascinating topic and never bores me because I LOVE money! :winkwink:

I'm taling about:
getting TRAFFIC from someone and turn it into cash.
or HOSTING and save on your hosting bill.
or CONTENT and don't spend money on it.

The people giving you traffic doesn't have to spend on design, thus saving money too (and making money with your design)
same for the other examples.

of course you're not going to base your whole business around bartering, but when you need an specific service and you can offer something else instead of cash, why not?

Everyone barters to a certain extent I'm sure. And my post was sarcastic also, apparently you really have a severe shortage.

Because you get what you pay for. If you're not paying anything, you're most likely gonna get shit.

Nothing wrong with battering at all -
I get excellent quality image sets weekly in return hosting.
I get designs for traffic -

Cash is King - I prefer it in my bank account!

Also another benefit - Contra deals don't enter my accounts...
