this means that YOU have the Sobig virus

Have you not seen/read any sort of news in the past couple of days?

It is an antivirus program on a mail server or someones workstation telling you that some one using your email address as a sender has the virus. You may or may not have it.

How could you not know? Every other post on gfy is about the virus.

Yah, I have yet to get a accual email with the virus. I did some scanning today and I'm clean. I have recieved a few of those emails like that in the last few days.

I've just started to get 150 viruses per hour sent to me ...
just finished deleting 700 ...
but not "Sobig" ... must be the results I think ...
I know I should have read up on this ...
so much to read - so little time ...

Spam blocking the forged email addresses did not work.

I just shut down SMTP relaying ... until I sort this out.
That means only web based mail for a bit.
grrr ... oh well ... a 15 minute inconvenience ...

Most of these types of attacks have come from China based hackers in my experience.

It's down to 30 per hour from 150 ...
My workstation is 98 so I can't have the Sobig virus.
Nor do I use Outlook.
Nor do I ever open email with attachments.

And the other XP on my network is off ...

I've shut down SMTP ...on my domain ..then on all domains on the same box ...

they just keep coming ...
that's what happens when 20,000 members have your primary email address ...
