Verotel back up again
 

Verotel is back and running again, although this is the second such situation in the last couple of months they have worked great for me. With all the threads complaining about CCbills constanct decline emails etc (I used to get at least 2 per day before switching) I would not trade using Verotel for anything.:)

In case you hadnt noticed verotel is not in the US yet when you do a whois is leads to the US.
How safe do you feel now?

Hi, when I do a whois on verotel.com , the sites are hosted in San Franciso, location of their site servers, whereas the registrar contact is
Verotel Merchant Services B.V. i.o.
Singel 540 Amsterdam, NH 1017AZ NL

Pretty typical of European, Asian business have their site servers located in U.S ? Where all the processing is actually in netherlands?

Please advise though, I'm ex-globill and now using verotel.

What was the reason for the downtime?

You can't see where someone's servers are located by looking at the whois info.

And www.verotel.com is not hosted in the USA, but in the Netherlands.

You should ask Verotel:
1) if they accept US webmasters, and if they do
2) if they settle transactions for those US webmasters through a bank outside the USA

If the answer to both questions is yes, they are breaking VISA's cross border regulations. And that is risky business..

Guessing some sort of hosting issues...but ill be damned if I received an email with an explanation or even had someone return my calls.
