it's more complicated than that Escort. I'm getting as many as you are and from a whole different set of senders. It's some kind of virus, the names of the senders are phoney, it's like that virus that took all the names from people's Outlook address book and sent out mail with those names as the sender.

what a week on the Net, first the blaster and now this one, sounds like as many people are getting this shit as the blaster.

[email protected]? hah ... I got one from [email protected] ... what I noticed though was after getting about 20 of them the attachments started disappearing...

Set your email box up to auto delete emails with attachments. Atleast than your inbox wont be cluttered with trash.

And if someone needs to send you an attachment you can turn it off temporarily.

you can organize your Mailbox if your using Outlook via the Rules Wizard and automatically dump the spam at Deleted items:thumbsup

just delete attachements with the following extensions:

.pif
.scr
.exe
.bat
.com

that way you still get .jpgs and shit

HELLO! you are completely inaccurate in posting these e-mail addresses! the virus uses forged headers...you cannot block email addresses its useless to do so...the from address in the virus email has nothing to do with who it directly came from. You need to block the strings outlined
http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=description&virus_k=100561

commonly known the SoBig.F virus

Webair will be blocking these today

Cassie 08-20-2003 10:13 AM

for anyone looking to find out if you are possibly infected, download this exe from mcaffee (just came out today) and scan your c drive http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger

we ran it on our machines internally and thankfully noone is infected.

codemebaby 08-20-2003 10:27 AM
