One of my best buddies was so damn lucky (Amazing Pic)

This is a pic of one of my best friends. He was visiting NYC that week and they were planning on going to the top of the WTC the following day, but decided to go a day early instead.

Look at the date and time on his ticket. Is that freaky luck or what?

ReAlisTiC 08-20-2003 01:43 AM

Oracle Porn 08-20-2003 01:43 AM

Did you sleep for like....mmmmmm....2 years?

High Quality 08-20-2003 01:43 AM

Not really freaky at all. Would your friend have gone at 7am before the attacks? I highly doubt it.

pm2000 08-20-2003 01:43 AM

holy shit that is lucky

Even stranger he couldn't get out of the city on their plane and they ended up taking a bus back to Florida and it drove past the Pentagon on the way down so he got to see that too.

Timing is everything in life.

No I was just going through one of my picture folders and came across that. I wasn't on GFY in 2001 so I thought it'd make an interesting post, since we're coming up on the 2 year anniversary of 9/11.

Check out my friend's "Cinema" link on this website -- he did a cool Flash animation about 9/11... That's actually his birthday :)

I wonder how much that ticket would go for on ebay. Interesting collectors item.

Theo 08-20-2003 02:51 AM

my father had a friend who was doing the same air flight schedule 5 days per week, every week due to his job. He was getting a morning flight. One day he decided to skip a flight so he could get some more sleep and took one a couple hours later. The plane crashed and he got killed. He had never missed his scheduled morning flight for whole years. True story.

Yeh, my father missed a plane fight once cause of traffic and that plane he would have been on crashed and everyone died. Guess it wasn't meant to be his time yet.

Good point, that ticket will be worth an absolute fortune in a few years to come. Don't sell it yet though wait for the 10th anniversary or some such milestone.

Nice flash movie TheFly. Your friend is full of talent.

In regards to the ticket, I hope your friend doesn't take life for granted after that.

Yeh, I bet it'd get a lot of action on eBay.

My buddy was all freaked out about it for weeks when he got home. I imagine that would do a real number on you pyschologically.

Years ago I met a broad at the Boston airport and took a later flight to Miami, the plane I should have taked crashed in the Florida Everglades..

Theo 08-20-2003 03:16 AM

i had kind of a similar event when i was in army about 6y. ago. I was out with some friends also serving the army. It was getting dark and close to the time we had to return back to the camp. Before returning back every time we were going to some restaurants in the coast and getting various foods for the soldiers that were remaining in the camp. While walking towards to one of them and in very close distance a huge explosion happened to the restaurant. Maybe we were lucky because we were chating and didn't hurry up as usual. The blast was huge and everyone inside and close to the restaurant was killed and many injured. Most of them were also soldiers doing pretty much the same thing we were about to do. The explosion came from some gas bottles. We were so damn close, only a minute from our death....fucking scary.

SLY1 08-20-2003 03:18 AM

It wasn't his time to go!

Theo 08-20-2003 03:20 AM

i found the event on the web

Volos, 24/07/1999 (MPA)_ One person was killed and 13 others were injured,
some of them seriously, from a gas explosion that rocked the whole city of
Volos in central Greece around 11pm last night.

from what i remember many of the injured died afterwards. The explosion was so damn strong I thought my heart would explode!

If those tickets ever become valuable ($$ wise) you'll see fake tickets popup left, right and center ...

AHHH!!!!!!! Those pictures are very harsh to look at, I'm from rockaway beach queens, NY.

9/11 was the worst day in united states history, everyone knows that, I am from a little penninsula about 15 miles from NYC, very, very close, perfect view from the skyline across the bay, where I'm from alot of firefighters, policemen, wallstreet workers etc lived here, on 9/11 my neighborhood lost the most people out of anywhere, around 100 I believe, and our population is only 35,000...sucks right, 2 months after 9/11, guess what happens on november 12th? a plane crashes into our neighborhood, the sounds actually still haunt me from that day, as I live only 5 blocks from where it crashed, actually it crashed in like a 5 block radius, engines landed on this block, other parts landed on different blocks, they said it wasnt terrorist, I still say it was bullshit... def - terrorist, 5 more people from rockaway perished that day, including 300 people (dominicans that we're on board) that plane, its very scary, and I wish some people who flame NY and bushes actions ETC that are from different places states/countrys try to take into consideration a first person view of those events, its very tragic, and its really hard for me to look at those pictures, I didn't lose anyone personally, but alot of my friends did, actually a fundraiser is coming up soon for the anniversary, after I find out more information in the next coming days I might just post a paypal account if anyone would be intrested in donating, still have to find out info on it, not sure if it will pull through as the politicians here suck.

anyway on that anniversary, take a look at your life and keep in mind that just by being on a computer, having a house, dont take it for granted.

Damn, 5 blocks from where that plane dropped. Wow, talk about close to home. Planes always make me skittish. Everytime I'm flying I'm always thinking how amazing it is that this big heavy piece of metal gets airborne.

lanclandesigns 08-20-2003 07:59 AM

yeah man, I was personally sleeping when it happened, the sound was ear popping, I didnt actually see it crash but neighbors did, many of them seen it "on fire" in the sky, goverment covering that shit up they said it was "turbulence" I say thats bullshit!

brand0n 08-20-2003 08:02 AM

i was in NYC on sept 19th, so we went down to the WTC just to get a first hand look. well, while we were there a guy broke out a camera with a telescope for a lens and started takin off snap shots, the police monitering the line rushed him, so i seen my chance, i went around there baracaed, shot down an alley and ended up right in the middle of where the towers used to be, as soon as i came around the corner it was like the music stopped, everyone working anywhere near me pretty much froze starring at me wondering wtf i was doing there. i was in complete awe, never was i prepared for what i was looking at, i knew my time was limited, so i grabbed a handfull of rubble off the ground and stuck it in my pocket, shot back down the alley, ran face to face with an nyc cop, he grabbed me by my jacked yelled on me for a few mins and then pretty much tossed me into the crowd

so, i have a couple peaces of the WTC along with a couple of the masks they were handing out and some pics that noone has ever seen

all that stuff is in a box in my attic, i cant really bare to look at it really

lanclandesigns 08-20-2003 08:02 AM

oh and by the way blocks here in rockaway are not like city blocks, so thats how close it actually was, very scary. our neighborhood is tight though, after the plane crashed many guys we're out side there helping, doing all they can do, even though there was not much to do besides put out the fire..

lanclandesigns 08-20-2003 08:04 AM

brandon, the smoke was still rising 8 days later, I believe the smoke was rising for a month from there, horrible.. I believe I attended around 30 funerals, wakes -none actually had the body, some with just body parts..
