Any fishing fans here?

Ain't been fishin' since '97 when I stopped by a lake in N. Mexico. Had trout in it the size of a dog.

Heard there were 2 meter long catfish in Italy.

Gonna head back to New England this year to do some lobster traps.

I didn't know that fishing is the biggest sport in the U.S.

It outclips all other sports combined for participation, tools and money.

When you look at some deep sea fish like the 1,000 lb sailfish, swordfish, tuna and they get over $15 a lb at the market you know why guys fish.

What cracks me up is I remember when bait was a 'worm' and luck.

Now you've got satellite gps systems and 'fish finders'. A fish ain't got a chance nowadays.

SYNIKAL 08-20-2003 12:48 AM

I fish every weekend... catch some nice fish also...

mailman 08-20-2003 12:53 AM

i like to fish.. but nothing major... its not a HAVE TO DO thing with me.. but if i get the chance i go.

The Truth Hurts 08-20-2003 12:55 AM

LeeNoga likes to fish.

I also like to fish, although I haven't been on almost 10 years.

Yeah i get away about 4 times a year.. Would be more if i didnt wanna keep making bling bling.

Mainly river fishing in queensland. For any of you that know our fine state around bundaberg.

Last time i was up me and my brother went out to the sand flats about 30 mins ride from up the river where we stay and we caught 120 whiting in about an hour and a half. All over 15 cms.

Takes yonks to fillet but are damn near the best eating fish in the world.

'Whiting' is the best tasting fish??? That I've gotta see. I'm partial to catfish.

I guess it's from watching all those old 'Deputy Dawg' cartoons.

120 whiting? What do you do with em' all?

Rochard 08-20-2003 07:52 AM

Fishing is about exciting as washing paint dry.

yes.. whiting are my favourite too.. fried in a salt and pepper flour coating.. although i must say 15cms is illegal... it's got to be nearer 27-30cm.. although that might just be NSW.. theres a spot i go and you can do a couple of dozen easy.. but most are undersized (15-20cm) you only get to eat them if they swallow the hook and you have to break their neck to get it out.

doober 08-20-2003 07:53 AM

Salmon season is coming up in upstate NY in late august early sept.
Hope its gonna be a good onE!

actually our salmon season has just been and gone, but they are a different type of salmon to yours.

I caught 2 big fat mofo's that took me 30 mins each to land, but I didn't get any pics of them because we were not really expecting to catch much that day...

but I have got some pics of the bay where we were staying and fishing...

magic place...

dantheman 08-20-2003 09:14 AM

pretty much been fishing since I was 3 or 4. Mostly freshwater Bass fishing, in the 80's did the whole B.A.S.S tourny thing. HAd a blast, just didnt have enough cash to keep going:( I've won or placed in the top 10 in over hundred local and regional ones over the last 20 years. Maybe one day I'll give it a real go :)

My childhood fishin' buddy is about to do the western pro am circuit I believe, he asked me to be his partner once again, but being that I have a family and shit now its not a possibility.

Stop it Doober!!! You're making me hungry!!! I miss upstate NY in late summer through autumn. People around here don't know what they're missing!!!! State fairs fulla food, harvest time with apple dumplings, apple crisp and homemade vanilla ice cream, Octoberfests... non-stop eatin' for 3 months and THEN it's time for Thanksgiving.

Heck, from late August to early January you can't go hungry in NY.

When I was 2 or 3 years old I saw a sturgeon in the Hudson River. They're extinct now I think, but when I was a kid there were lobster, clams, sturgeon, catfish, shad and who knows what else in the Hudson but it got polluted and now they're trying to fixi it up.

What??? Dude, get back into it!! I'm sure you could find sponsors here on this board. The prize money in fishing is beyond what you can win in any other sport. Plus you get to get away from the wife and kids for awhile :)

Roly,

Swordfish and Marlin fishing takes a real he-man. Them fish fight for hours sometimes. If you're lucky you'll get one that's been worn out already but it is one spectacular sport. Plus if you land one you can make stupid money just selling it to shore.

Hope you're in good shape and take some video!!!!

Fly fishin'??? Man that takes talent.

Gotta friend of mine who LIVES for fly fishing. Dude is a genius engineer and builds spaceships and subs and shit.

Yet he would rather trade a trip to the moon for a sunday of just fly fishin'.

Well 'mad props' to you Porn Broker. OZ has fish even the Submariner or Aquaman wouldn't wanna tackle. You've all got great whites down there too. BIG ONES.

I'll bet the salmon are delicious from those waters since they're out of the 'pollution zone'. Bet New Zealand's got great fishing too.

Beautiful photos by the way.

freeadultcontent 08-20-2003 11:03 AM

Love fishing and we are covered with great locations here all very damn close.

Got shasta for most of our freshwater fish, or other close lakes.

Got the sacramento river for salmon and bass, and a few rivers or very damn large creeks.

Plus it is damn cheap, even if you wanna rent a lakeside cabin.
