heads up on a virus i've been getting in email...
 

i've gotten a shitload of them today, looks to be a lot of adult webmaster-type email addresses. coming in with attachments. i haven't tried to read them, the virus scanner keeps intercepting them.

they're coming in with subject lines such as "your details", "re: my details", "re:thank you", etc.

dunno if this has been posted, i'm very busy tonight. but just thought i'd spread the word in case you get it.

Yeah it's a pain in the ass because even if you run non-windows servers (as you should ;p), the virus infects windows people but then harvests emails form websites and uses them...

so to average folk it looks like even your sites are spamming them.

please, give me a handjob.

It seems they all have one thing in common. My mail program tells me the originated from: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2600.000

As I block everything over 50k my mail program blocked about 300 of those fuckers before my virus scanner even got to them.

I got a shitload of them also, don't mean they have a Virus tho, might be something the Virus scanner doesn't understand.

I got about a couple hundred of them. They all have a .pif file attached. You can call your host and tell them to place a filter on your email server that blocks those particular files. It cleared it right up.

this is getting way out of hand, this is being send to a pretty new email address. all emails say the same shit, see attached file so I have it filtered and sent to a new box.

Most annoying thing about this virus is all the automated virus checkers on servers that keep sending you mails saying you are sending it. Makes you almost paranoid.
