Yes, and that recreation was based on the actual shark attacks w/ the victims watching.

Just_Dave 08-19-2003 03:57 PM

that sucks :(

Poppy 08-19-2003 03:59 PM

I would NEVER go swimming in Cental California w/ a full wetsuit on.

LeeNoga 08-19-2003 04:17 PM

I for one live near the Florida coastline and NO WAY will I ever go into the ocean/beach.

WIth what we pull out of the water [sharks, rays, barracuda etc], you could not get me on a jetski in the ocean and I don't care what coastline we are talking.

Bulldog-Johnnie 08-19-2003 04:35 PM

Under the title

Self Inflicted-

or

Thinning the Herd

Q- What do big scary sharks eat off the coast of California?

A- Seals

If sharks eat seals, what would you think a rational thinking person would want to stay away from while in the water?

Why not go into a tiger pen with a porterhouse aorund your neck?

Because you didn't survive your last act of utter stupidity.

Article is probably long lost, but I have a huge scar in my foot from my scuba diving days.

Partner and I were in the Australia and spearfishing. Pretty stupid because it is shark waters, but we didn't see any. Duh...we were stoned and having fun fishing away with bloody fish in nets on our sides...I was attacked, luckily by a 4ft baby.

Bit through my flipper and foot and shaked me like a rag doll. My diving partner jumped on him and stabbed the hell out of him until he hit the eye and killed him, then pryed me loose so we could get the fuck out of there

30 years later I still think about that scar and think about my pal Dave, my old Hawaii and Australia surfing and diving partner for saving my life.

When you see a shark get the fuck out of the water fool!

not in cali, and if they are, it doesnt make it legal

Amputate Your Head 08-19-2003 05:22 PM

the thing to know about sharks is, if you're out in the water and you see a shark, you do NOT need to outswim the shark. You only need to outswim the guy next to you.

bullshit. Go to any Safeway store and you can buy shark till your wallet is empty.

It's illegal to trophy hunt great whites. That's it.

Yep, shark sushi is quite common around these parts. It's not cheap, and it's not very good (imo) but it's dfinitely legal.

MonsterMike 08-19-2003 06:10 PM

I had a shark bump my leg once. It left a nice bruse, but at least it left my leg. I don't what I hate worse, sharks or snakes?

Fatbat 08-19-2003 06:23 PM

Just because you can buy it at Safeway doesn't mean it came out of local waters...

rastakit 08-19-2003 06:26 PM

This is a great line:
"Nielsen said swimmers should avoid waters where there are signs that wildlife are feeding. "

Poppy--you ever see a sign before you paddle out to a break that said..."warning, sharks feeding here"???

:-))

wargames 08-19-2003 06:27 PM

that sucks

I think they mean 'signs' as in, 'indications'.... not a literal sign.
