Did Paul Newman have anything to do with the death of James Dean?

Here's one for you Fletch since you're in Hollywood...

Did Paul Newman have anything to do with the death of James Dean?

I saw this on a documentary the other day and drew my own conclusions (they made no reference of any such thing)....

But I guess they were both in the same circles to some degree & James Dean had the role for Rocky Graziano in "Somebody Up There Likes Me" locked up. Paul Newman wanted it badly but felt like he wasn't being given fair shot with Dean hogging the spotlight (that's what the docu said).

"Somebody up there likes me" was Paul Newmans first starring role I think.

He then went on to be Hollywoods most in-demand leading man (after Dean died).

Anyway not to knock Paul Newman.. he kicks ass :thumbsup

Never heard this one before! James Dean is from my hometown. He most likely was bi-sexual. He was a weird kid. He wanted to work, but he wasn't that competitive. He was interested in fast cars. It was his need for speed that killed him, not Paul Newman!

He was a very average basketball player. He was about half the size of Kobe. Today, James Dean (in his 20's) would be doing drugs, and dropping out. He would own an old Spanish Villa in the Hollywood Hills where all his groupies would gather. I can picture him eventually becoming a Marlon Brando type...overweight, slurring his words in movies, going from woman to woman with a few men on the side. Dean would eventually get AIDS and die bloated like Elvis or a skeleton like Rock Hudson.

Because he died young, we will remember his youth, looks, talent and memories of what could have been.

Nah seriously ... that would be dumb to kill some1 for a role

Your right Microchick - James was a weird kid. (That was where he got his brooding talent) He came from 'nothing, and really didn't know how to handle stardom - like so many others.

Elvis was fine until Colonel Parker died. He really didn't have anyone that he respected, or who had the brains and influence to handle him after that. Left to his own, he lacked the Colonel's guidence and he made a lot of bad decisions.
