RIAA and pirated music...
 

Isn't it legal to have mp3's if you own the CD? I've heard everywhere about that 19 year old being whacked for 12 large, how was that fine calculated? If you knew the RIAA was after you, couldn't you just buy a shitload of CD's? Everywhere I go tells why this happens but not how these people are caught, and what the settlement system is.

They are tracked by ip & then the isp hands over the information to the information collecting company, who then hands over the information to the RIAA's lawyers, who then send out letters, this girl probably sent back a letter saying "yes it was me, im sorry" :1orglaugh

This is my best guess from friends who have recieved these letters....
