Video cameras for bars?

City councillor Fred Bass says council may have to consider forcing all bars to install video cameras to help prevent a recurrence of the weekend shootings.

"We tape record people in all kinds of circumstances, certainly when they go to get money at a cash machine," he says. "So it makes some sense to me that we take a look at that."

The chair of BARWATCH ? which represents downtown club owners ? agrees, saying he doesn't think cameras would scare away customers.

"I think a greater deterrent is people getting killed," says John Teti. "You know, a great many people don't want to go to bars because they think they're unsafe."

Teti also thinks Vancouver should consider the system used in Phoenix, Arizona where patrons must swipe an ID card before entering a bar or club.

Yes, handguns are illegal to own, but that doesn't stop the criminals from owning them...You just can't go to Wal Mart and buy one like you can down there.

Again, it's the organized crime (Hells Angels, Eastern European Gangs, Asian Gangs, Middle Eastern Gangs, etc) that are usually the cause of shit like this. Not your average joe, who legally owns a gun and decides to shoot someone who looked at his girlfriend wrong...

The police suspect that they people killed were "targeted", and not randomly shot.

NOnono, micheal moore, million mom march, that brady guy told me if you just make guns illegal.. noone will get shot, it's just that simple. Criminals cant have handguns there, they are ILLEGAL, maybe someone should tell them.

Believe it or not...it is possible. But the thing is, for the most part, they aren't "Canadian". They're usually Eastern European, Asian (from China or Vietnam), or Middle Eastern (Iranian). All in the country thanks to our Swiss Cheese immigration system...Just claim refugee status and you're in.

Something should be done... I think the SKY BAR will be implementing the scanners as well as a lazer that takes pics of your face or some shit.

Either way good... i dont wanna worry about getting shot in the middle of a packed club.

Last week here a bouncer got shot in the back ...

There was a big fight at staff night ... Like 50 bouncer from every club in the region came and fought . was craz-e

And the next day 3 of them cameback and shot the doorman ... Anyways it's fucked up

I know all the ppl involved in this shit ... I work with them do promo etc ... fucked up shit
