Got a call today
 

...from my mother. As some of you may know from a previous post my mother went on an Alaskan cruise. She called today from Anchorage. She is doing OK but did suffer a round of sea sickness. She said the wind hit about 60 miles per hour and tossed the ship around pretty badly. I guess she was told to eat green apples and crackers for the sea sickness (I never heard of this before) but it apparently worked. Her wheel chair also broke and she was trying to get a replacement in Anchorage. She is not due back home until the 22nd. Her voice sounded strong so I guess she is going to survive the trip.

Too bad about the weather. I know people who have gone on Alaskan Cruises and heard nothing but positive feedback.

Alaska is the best thing for the soul ..after being there for 10 days i was ready to packup and move there :thumbsup

After living in Alaska for nearly two years...with 40 below in the winter...and nothing but dreary drizzling days in the summer...I was ready to head back to the desert.

You know what's great for the soul? An all expenses paid week at a high class resort on Bora Bora. :winkwink:

Sorry to hear about your mother though. Hope she manages to enjoy what's left of her trip and hopefully all will be well.

I'm in Anchorage, AK now... I moved up here with my girlfriend (she's from here originally) 4 months ago. The winter will be intersting!

The other day I was looking out my window at the lake.. I saw a bald eagle flying above the lake.. (I see them all the time). It was cool he was just soaring around and then turned and dive bombed a fish in the lake. It was fucking awesome!!!!

Will your mom's insurance cover the cost of a wheelchair while she's in Alaska or will she have to suffer until she gets back??? Insurance companies are the BIGGEST RIP OFF ARTISTS EVER!!
